Council of Ministers Approves Draft Law Allowing Foreign Nationals to Own Real Estate in Ethiopia.
The Council of Ministers has recently approved a draft law permitting foreign nationals to own immovable property in Ethiopia and submitted it to parliament for ratification. Once enacted, this law is expected to bring several key benefits, including:
1. Boosting Foreign Investment: The legislation aims to attract foreign capital, stimulating economic growth and development.
2. Expanding the Housing and Real Estate Market: Allowing foreign nationals to own property will increase demand in both residential and commercial real estate, encouraging further development in the sector.
3. Creating Job Opportunities: New investments in construction, real estate, and related services will generate employment opportunities.
Additionally, the Council of Ministers has made decisions on other critical matters, including:
African Finance Corporation (AFC) Membership Agreement: Ethiopia’s accession to the AFC will enhance financial support and development project funding.
African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Implementation: The agreement includes tariff reductions to promote intra-African trade and economic integration.
