The 20-storey Gopuram at the #Murdeshwar Temple is the second tallest gopuram in the world. Hovering over 237 feet, this 20-storey structure gives a fantastic aerial view of the towering #LordShiva statue. The top aerial view with the sea forming the background makes the Shiva statue appear even larger. The Gopuram also has two life-size statues of elephants at the entrance. Every inch of this gopuram boasts intricately carved figures of gods, goddesses and heavenly beauties.

#HoysaleswaraTemple, also referred simply as the #HalebiduTemple, is a 12th-century #Hindutemple dedicated to Shiva. It is the largest #monument in #Halebidu, a town in the state of #Karnataka, India and the former capital of the #HoysalaEmpire. The temple was built on the banks of a large man-made lake, and sponsored by King vishnuvardhana of the #HoysalaEmpire. Its construction started around 1121 CE and was complete in 1160 CE.During the early 14th century, Halebidu was twice sacked and plundered by the muslim armies of the Delhi sultanat from northern India,and the temple and the capital fell into a state of ruin and neglect.
Chini Mahal is a double storied castle situated inside the #DaulatabadFort. #ChiniMahal served as the royal prison and held many of the royal captives of Emperor Aurangzeb. Also known as #ChinaPalace, Chini Mahal was once a beautiful mansion and was inlaid with glazed blue and white enamelled encaustic tiles. Now only patches of the porcelain tiles remain on the facade of the Chini Mahal, showcasing the extreme craftsmanship of those who built this castle. The last of the Qutab Shahi Kings of Golconda, Abul Hasan Tana Shah, and the last Sultan of Bijapur, Sikander, were held as captives by the Moghul Emperor, Aurangzeb.

This giant statue of #LordGanesha was carved out of a huge boulder at the northeastern slope of the #HemakutaHill. The belly of this statue resembles a Bengal gram (#Kadalekalu, in local language) and hence the name.
A sanctum is built around the statue. The pillared hall in front of this sanctum is as charming as this giant statue itself. The open hall constructed by unusually slender and tall pillars. Each of them is highly ornate with mythical themes.

Inscriptions referring to #LordShiva date back to the 9th and 10th centuries. What started as a small shrine grew into a large complex under the Vijayanagara rulers.

The Punalur Suspension Bridge, located in Punalur is the oldest motorable Bridge in Kerala, which was built by Travancore Government and is now a historical attraction. The bridge has a length of 400 feet. The suspension bridge was built to prevent wild animals from crossing into the town from the forest area of old Kattupathanapuram.
In the picturesque hamlet of #Azhimala in #Vizhinjam, there is a surreal blend of divinity and nature. While the gorgeous beach and green surroundings invite travellers, the much revered #AzhimalaShivaTemple adds a mystic touch to the place. The temple which is perched on the cliff adjoining the sea is an ancient one that envelops the whole region in a pious aura. The temple is noted for its 58-ft-tall statue of #LordShiva in the #Gangadhareswara form, all made in concrete. The massive structure with Shiva's hair flowing in the wind and holding Goddess Ganga has a charm of its own and lends a magnificent appeal to the temple. The sculpture was created by a 29-year-old artist P. S. Devadathan who is a native of Azhimala.
