#BadavilingaTemple is a wonderful temple in #Hampi dedicated to #LordShiva. The Hindu deity Shiva is worshipped in the form of a Linga in this temple. #TheBadavilingaTemple is located near the Lakshmi Narasimha Temple. Tourists as well as devotees flock to the temple throughout the year.
The Badavilinga Temple in Hampi has the largest monolithic Shiva Linga in Hampi. The #ShivaLinga has a three eye mark drawn on it in line carving. The three eye mark depicts the three eyes of Lord Shiva.

The beautiful Linga is made of black stone. It has a height of 3 meters. It is believed that the temple has been in existence since the period of the Vijayanagara Empire. Devotees come here from far and near to worship the Shiva Linga.

The tallest #Gangadhareswara (#LordShiva) statue in the country on the premises of #AzhimalaTemple in #Vizhinjam

The 58-ft-tall statue made of concrete depicts Shiva having wavy hair with Ganga on his head.

The statue was completed over a duration of six years by artist P S Devadathan, an Azhimala native. Under the statue, there is a 3,500-sq-ft chamber with more sculptures showing the history of #AzhimalaShivaTemple. The sculpture has been made on a rock which is at an altitude of 20-ft from the sea.

The 20-storey Gopuram at the #Murdeshwar Temple is the second tallest gopuram in the world. Hovering over 237 feet, this 20-storey structure gives a fantastic aerial view of the towering #LordShiva statue. The top aerial view with the sea forming the background makes the Shiva statue appear even larger. The Gopuram also has two life-size statues of elephants at the entrance. Virupaksha Temple (เคตเคฟเคฐเฅเคชเคพเค•เฅเคท เคฎเคจเฅเคฆเคฟเคฐ) ๐Ÿ™

#VirupakshaTemple is located in #Hampi 350 km from #Bangalore in the state of Karnataka in #SouthernIndia. It is part of the Group of Monuments at Hampi designated a #UNESCO #WorldHeritageSite. The temple is dedicated to #Virupaksha a form of Shiva. The #temple was built by Lakkana Dandesha a chieftain under the ruler Deva Raya of the Vijayanagara Empire.

The temples history is uninterrupted from about the 7th century. The Virupaksha Pampa sanctuary existed well before the Vijayanagara capital was located here. Inscriptions referring to #LordShiva date back to the 9th and 10th centuries. What started as a small shrine grew into a large complex under the Vijayanagara rulers.
In the picturesque hamlet of #Azhimala in #Vizhinjam, there is a surreal blend of divinity and nature. While the gorgeous beach and green surroundings invite travellers, the much revered #AzhimalaShivaTemple adds a mystic touch to the place. The temple which is perched on the cliff adjoining the sea is an ancient one that envelops the whole region in a pious aura. The temple is noted for its 58-ft-tall statue of #LordShiva in the #Gangadhareswara form, all made in concrete. The massive structure with Shiva's hair flowing in the wind and holding Goddess Ganga has a charm of its own and lends a magnificent appeal to the temple. The sculpture was created by a 29-year-old artist P. S. Devadathan who is a native of Azhimala.
