The 20-storey Gopuram at the #Murdeshwar Temple is the second tallest gopuram in the world. Hovering over 237 feet, this 20-storey structure gives a fantastic aerial view of the towering #LordShiva statue. The top aerial view with the sea forming the background makes the Shiva statue appear even larger. The Gopuram also has two life-size statues of elephants at the entrance. Every inch of this gopuram boasts intricately carved figures of gods, goddesses and heavenly beauties.
#HoysaleswaraTemple, also referred simply as the #HalebiduTemple, is a 12th-century #Hindutemple dedicated to Shiva. It is the largest #monument in #Halebidu, a town in the state of #Karnataka, India and the former capital of the #HoysalaEmpire. The temple was built on the banks of a large man-made lake, and sponsored by King vishnuvardhana of the #HoysalaEmpire. Its construction started around 1121 CE and was complete in 1160 CE.During the early 14th century, Halebidu was twice sacked and plundered by the muslim armies of the Delhi sultanat  from northern India,and the temple and the capital fell into a state of ruin and neglect.

This giant statue of #LordGanesha was carved out of a huge boulder at the northeastern slope of the #HemakutaHill. The belly of this statue resembles a Bengal gram (#Kadalekalu, in local language) and hence the name.

A sanctum is built around the statue. The pillared hall in front of this sanctum is as charming as this giant statue itself. The open hall constructed by unusually slender and tall pillars. Each of them is highly ornate with mythical themes.

This 4.5 meters (15 feet) tall statue is one among the largest sculptures in Hampi. The pillared hall is a vantage point to survey the environs, especially the #HampiBazaar and the foothills of #MatangaHill.

"#Madhugiri lies in the #Tumkur district in the State of #Karnataka. Madhugiri is a single rock hill... At an elevation of 3930 feet, the hill is the second largest monolith in Asia. There is a famous fort at the top of the hill..To reach the top of the fort, one has to climb the steep slope with steps until almost half the way. A series of doorways leads to the hill."
#JogFalls, a major attraction in #Karnataka, is located in the #Shimoga district of Karnataka. Also known by alternative names of #GerusoppeFalls, #GersoppaFalls, and #JogadaGundi, it is one of the highest #waterfalls in India. During #monsoons, one can see a breathtaking view of the falls with rainbows coming every now and then.

It is one of nature’s splendid masterpieces and is situated in the dense evergreen forests. The effect of these striking falls is enhanced by the wild and beautiful region around it which is covered with plenty of abundant vegetation. This waterfall drops directly down without streaming on the rocks.

#KopeshwaraTemple is at #Khidrapur, #Kolhapur district, #Maharashtra. It is at the border of #Maharashtra and #Karnataka. It is also accessible from Sangli as well. It was built in the 12th century by Shilahara king Gandaraditya between 1109 and 1178 CE. It is to the east of Kolhapur, ancient & artistic on the bank of the Krishna river. Even though Silaharas were Jain kings, they built and renovated various Hindu temples, thus depicting their respect and love for all religions. Kopeshwara means angry Shiva in Kannada.

#SavehakluReservoir is Situated 6Km away from #ChakraDam ,Chakra Dam is around 55Kms from #Kodachadri, #Karnataka. This reservoir can be spotted while travelling towards Kodachadri from Nagara. #SavehakluDam is one of the water sources for Linganamakki Dam and was constructed before the Linganamakki Dam was built. Heavy monsoon flow gives abundant life to the reservoir and the nature. The place is too windy and foggy during monsoon and this makes it worth place for monsoon trip.
Murudeshwara Temple is fast becoming one of the most popular tourist spots in #Karnataka because of the humongous statue of Shiva that it houses. The temple is built on the #Kanduka Hill and is surrounded by the Arabian Sea on three sides. Travellers from all over the world come to marvel at not just the 123-ft Shiva temple but also the 20-storey (237ft) Gopuram at the front.
