A much revered figure among Jains, was the son of Rishabhanatha.He is said to have meditated motionless for twelve years in a standing posture and that during this time, climbing plants grew around his legs. After his year of meditation, Bahubali is said to have attained omniscience. This is 57ft monolithic statue and it was built around 983 AD and it is one of the free standing statues in the world.

#ShettihalliChurch is located 22 from #Hassan in #Karnataka. Built in the 1860s by the French missionaries in India, the church is a magnificent structure of Gothic #Architecture. After the construction of the #HemavatiDam and Reservoir in 1960 the church was abandoned.It has since then become a famous tourist spot where people flock to see the half submerged church during monsoon. It is also known as #TheSubmergedChurch and #TheFloatingChurch.

Reconstructed several times in the past after repeated destruction by several invaders and rulers, the present temple was reconstructed in the Chaulukya style of Hindu temple architecture and completed in May 1951. The reconstruction was started under the orders of the Home Minister of India Vallabhbhai Patel and completed after his death.
