Gaitor ki Chhatriyan

Surrounded by lush greenery in the foothills of the #NahargarFort lies Gatore Ki Chhatriyan, the final resting place for the Maharajas of Jaipur. Every Maharaja has one cenotaph constructed in his honor, so there’s so much to look at. The name Gaitore comes from the Hindi phrase β€œGaye ka Thor” which means β€œresting place of the departed souls”.

#HumayunTomb is an excellent example of Mughal #architecture in India. Built under the orders of Hamida Banu Begum the wife of Mughal Emperor Humayun in the mid 16th century this mausoleum is a complex of buildings located in Nizamuddin East Delhi. The globular dome high arches lattice stone windows and geometric patterns of the tomb reflect the traditional Islamic style of architecture. Its structural design is quite similar to TajMahal. Till date it is one of the leading attractions of Delhi drawing thousands of visitors everyday.

The Haveli Todar Mal popularly known as Jahaz Haveli or Jahaz Mahal is the 17th century residence (haveli) of Todar Mal, who became the diwan in the court of Nawab Wazir Khan, the Governor of Sirhind, under Mughal Empire. Today, it is remembered for the cremation of young martyred sons of Guru Gobind Singh and his mother.

The haveli is situated in Harnam Nagar, on the Eastern side of Sirhind-Rupnagar Railway Line just 1 km away from Fatehgarh Sahib, and is now being taken over and restored by SGPC with the help of #Punjab govt and INTACH.

The lavish haveli constructed with Sirhindi bricks stand just outside the Mughal Governor Nawab Wazir Khan's palace, once boasts of a grand reception area to receive and entertain guests and a well laid-out ground complete with a pool and fountains.
The Taj Mahal is an ivory white marble mausoleum on the south bank of the #Yamuna river in the Indian city of Agra. It was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favourite wife Mumtaz Mahal.

1000 #elephants and 22000 workers were used in its construction which took over 20 years.

Gurdwara Sri Tarn Taran Sahib is a Gurdwara established by the fifth Guru, Guru Arjan Dev, in the city of Tarn Taran Sahib, #Punjab, India. The site has the distinction of having the largest sarovar (water pond) of all the Gurdwaras. It is famous for the monthly gathering of pilgrims on the day of Amavas (a no-moon night). It is near Harmandir Sahib, Amritsar.
Immaculate Conception Cathedral is the cathedral mother church for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of #Pondicherry and #Cuddalore. It is located in the Union territory of Puducherry. The church is also known as Samba Kovil. which is a phonetic corruption of "Saint Paul's Kovil" where "Kovil" means church.

The Fest of this Church i.e., Immaculate Conception of Blessed Virgin Mary falls on 8 December. Now the church which stands for around 300 years is also the place where the bishop house is also situated. Mass services in Tamil and English are conducted.

It is one of the oldest tourist sites in Puducherry., and was visited by Mother Teresa during her visit to Puducherry.
Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, situated on the south boulevard of #Pondicherry in Puducherry, India, is an oriental specimen of Gothic Revival architecture. It contains rare stained glass panels depicting events from the life of #Christ and saints of the Catholic Church. In recent years it has become one of the famous pilgrimage spots for Christians.

In the year 1895, the then Archbishop Mgr.Gandy consecrated the Archdiocese of Pondicherry to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. He wished to build a new church in devotion of Sacred Heart of Jesus. Rev. Fr. Telesphore Welter, the parish priest of Nellithope prepared the building plan and parish priest of Cathedral Rev. Fr. Fourcaud commenced the construction of the new church in 1902 at the southern side of Pondicherry.

The blessing of the church and the first mass was held at the western wing of the present church by Mgr. Gandy on 17, December 1907 and the new parish surrounding this church has been established on 27, January 1908.

Varadaraja Perumal temple (also called #Vedapureswarar - #VaradharajarTemple) in the South Indian union territory of #Puducherry, is dedicated to the Hindu god Vishnu. It is located heritage town region of the city. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, the temple is a storehouse of Chola architecture.

A granite wall surrounds the temple, enclosing all its shrines. The temple has a five-tiered rajagopuram, the temple's gateway tower. The temple is originally believed to have been built by the Cholas during the 11th century, with later expansion from the Pandyas.

The temple follows Vaikasana Agama tradition of worship. Four daily rituals and three yearly festivals are held at the temple, of which the ten-day annual Brahmostavam during the Tamil month of Chittirai (April - May) and five-day Pavitrotsavam during Avani (August - September) and 25-day Ramar festival during chittirai being the most prominent. Aayi Mandapam #(ParkMonument) is a white #monument in #Pondicherry, India built during the time of Napoleon III, Emperor of France. It is situated in center of #BharathiPark. The monument commemorates the provision of water to the French city during his reign. It was named after a lady courtesan called Ayi. She destroyed her own house to erect a water reservoir to supply water for the city.
Arunachalesvara Temple also called Annamalaiyar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the deity Shiva located at the base of Arunachala hill in the town of Tamil Nadu India. The #FrenchWarMemorial in #Puducherry, is a war memorial dedicated to residents of French India who died for the country during the First World War. It is on Goubert Avenue in Puducherry, located opposite to the Gandhi statue.

Pondicherry would offer 800 recruits, send 500 combatants overseas and would see 75 deaths from this group.

The monument was erected in 1937 and inaugurated on 3 April 1938 by governor Crocicchia.

The memorial is decorated and illuminated yearly on Bastille Day (14 July) in honour of the soldiers from the colony who took part in World War I. French government officials visit the memorial on occasion and lay flowers at the foot of the monument. Khirachora Gopinatha Temple is in Remuna, #Odisha, India. The name "Remuna" is from the word "Ramaniya" which means very good-looking. "Khirachora" in Odia means Stealer of Milk and Gopinatha means the Divine Consort of Gopis. The reference is to child Krishna's love for milk and milk products.

#LordGopinatha, flanked by Sri Govinda and Sri Madana Mohana, is made of black stone. Sri Gopinatha stands in bas-relief. Govinda and Madana Mohana, who were brought from Vrindavana in about 1938 by a devotee named "Chaitanya Dasa Babaji", are standing freely. It is said that Sri Rama carved Gopinatha with His arrow and that Sita worshiped this deity in Chitrakuta. During vanavasa to show the next avatara vigraha to Sita. An ancient 12th century #ShivaTemple at the foothills of Dhauli.

The Bhringeswara Shiva temple is situated on the foothills of Dhauli, #Bhubaneswar in the village #Khatuapada. The temple is facing towards west and the presiding deity is a circular yoni pitha with a hole at the centre. The temple is made of light grey sandstone. The temple is renovated one from bottom to the top by employing the earlier materials.

Dhauli has been always an important landmark for Buddhist, Jainism and ancient Kalingan dynasties for worship which tells the glorious past.
