Brihadishvara Temple, also called Rajarajesvaram or Peruvudaiyār Kōvil, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva located in South bank of Kaveri river in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India. It is one of the largest South Indian temples and an exemplary example of a fully realized Dravidian architecture. It is called as Dhakshina Meru (Meru of south). Built by Tamil king Raja Raja Chola I between 1003 and 1010 AD, the temple is a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Morning Scene in #Kashmir ❀️

The shikar is a type of wooden boat found on #DalLake and other water bodies of #Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. #Shikars are of varied sizes and are used for multiple purposes, including transportation of people. A usual shikar seats half-a-dozen people, with the driver paddling at the rear.

According to legend, when the Hindu God Shiva and his consort Parvati were walking in the valley, Parvati dropped one of her earrings. The jewel was seized by Shesha, the serpent deity, who then disappeared into the earth with it. Shesha only surrendered the jewel when Shiva performed the cosmic dance, the Tandava and shot the jewel up through the water.

The name Manikaran is derived from this legend. The water is still hot and is considered extremely auspicious. A pilgrimage to this place is thought of as complete. It is also believed that there is no need to pay a visit to Kashi after visiting this place. The water of the spring is also supposed to have curative powers. The water is so hot that rice can be cooked in it.
#Devprayag is one of the #PanchPrayag (five confluences) of #AlaknandaRiver where Alaknanda, Saraswati River (an underground river in Hinduism) and #BhagirathiRivers meet and take the name #Ganga.
The #MurudeshwarTemple is built on the #KandukaHill, which is surrounded by the #ArabianSea on three sides.

This temple is dedicated to #LordShiva and like all other major #SouthIndianTemples, a 20-storied Gopura is being constructed on the temple. It is 249 feet tall is considered
the "tallest Gopura in the world".

Meenakshi Amman Temple, also known as Minakshi-Sundareshwara Temple, is one of the oldest and most important temples in India. Located in the city of Madurai, the temple has a great mythological and historical significance. It is believed that Lord Shiva assumed the form of Sundareswarar (the handsome one) and married Parvati (Meenakshi) at the site where the temple is currently located. Renowned for its astonishing architecture, Meenakshi Temple was nominated as one of the wonders of the world, but couldn’t make it into the list of β€˜Seven Wonders of the World’. However, the temple is definitely one of the β€˜Wonders of India’.
#Bojjannakonda and #Lingalakonda are two Buddhist rock-cut caves on adjacent hillocks, situated near a village called #Sankaram, which is a few kilometres away from #Anakapalle#Vishakhapatnam in the Indian state of #AndhraPradesh. The sites are believed to date between 4th and 9th Century A.D, when the Jainism (Hinayana, Mahayana, and Vajrayana) flourished at Sankaram (#Sangharam as it was called then). The real name of Bojjannakonda was actually Buddina Konda but the people can't pronounce it properly by telling the name repeatedly so it was changed to Bojjannakonda.
