With between 2-4million people trafficked across borders each year, 300,000 child soldiers working around the world and approx. 3,287 men, women and children being taken and sold every day, it is hard not to stand up and take note of those who are not free, those who don’t have a voice and those whose hope has been lost. To the child rescued from child labour, child soldiers, to the abused women and rape survivors, the opportunity of an escape and a new beginning is like a gift of life itself. This is the work of our BEFREE campaign.

The history of Cambodia is stained by the civil war in the 1970s which led to the genocide of over two million nationals, during the reign of the notorious Khmer Rouge. Many people died in what has become known as The Killing Fields.

Sadly, one of the legacies of this situation is sex tourism, which takes advantage of lower income families, seeking to exploit them and their children, making Cambodia a dangerous place for vulnerable women and children.

At Be Free Cambodia women who have been victims of human exploitation come in to a programme of healing, rehabilitation, mentoring and discipling. They are also taught skills in craft. The items you can buy on this website have all been made by these women.

The Be Free campaign is our way of declaring 'Freedom in Christ' over those people who don't know freedom is even possible.

We are currently working in Cambodia, DRC and Pakistan where we have partner organisations working to help and rehabilitate those who are victims of human exploitation. Our mighty God calls us to "speak up for those who cannot speak up for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute" Proverbs 31:8.

The Be Free Campaign is the Elim Missions stand against human exploitation. There are many forms of exploitation into which people can be trafficked and held in slavery. It is estimated that there are currently 49.6 million people in what is now known as ‘modern-day slavery.’

Be Free is the Elim Missions’ stand against human exploitation.

This is defined as the illegal exploitation of humans in order to force them to engage in commercial sex, labour or other activities against their will. It relies on deception, force and coercion, and degrades humans by depriving them of their freedom while economically or materially benefiting others.

These practices are often referred to as ‘modern day slavery’. Today it is estimated that 50 million people are enslaved.
