#PSA 🌧️ With a monsoon surge expected later this week from 19-21 Mar, we are stepping up inspections and repairs to keep our roads safe.
During heavy rain, water seeps into tiny cracks in the road. When vehicles drive over these weakened spots, the pressure can cause the road surface to break down faster, forming potholes. 🕳️

👮♂️ Our enforcement officers are staying vigilant and keeping our roads safe.
⚠️🚚 They booked 488 vehicles for various offences in the last three weeks:
🚛 181 vehicles were caught for being oversized or illegally travelling on expressways (e.g., concrete mixers and low trailers).
Offenders face up to $1,000 fines and/or 3 months’ jail. Penalties are doubled for repeat offenders.
🛻 307 lorries were caught for failing to fill up front passenger seats in the driver’s cabin, not having proper rain covers, or missing the Maximum Passenger Capacity (MPC) label. Lorries that do not comply with safety requirements can be fined up to $5,000 and/or jailed up to 3 months. Penalties are doubled for repeat offenders.

#GoodNews We’re seeing steady growth in the adoption of electric vehicles as we work towards a cleaner energy vehicle population by 2040! 🌱🚗
#DidYouKnow EVs accounted for a record 43% of new car registrations in Feb 2025? This is also the first time new registrations for electric cars have surpassed those of hybrid cars.
With almost half of our >19,000 EV charging points located in publicly accessible areas, drivers can conveniently charge their EVs close to where they live, work and play. 🙌
To support charger installations in non-landed private residences, we are also extending the EV Common Charger Grant to co-fund the installation of 3,500 chargers till 31 Dec 2026, whichever comes first.

#GoodNews The Singapore Rail Test Centre (#SRTC) is now open! 🥳
Featuring three test tracks to assess trains for their speed, performance and integration, as well as endurance, the SRTC can accommodate various signalling and communication systems used across the MRT network.🚆🛠
With the SRTC, we can now conduct round-the-clock testing ⏰ of trains in a controlled and localised environment, freeing up engineering time for other maintenance works. This will help us further enhance the reliability and efficiency of the rail network. 💪
#FunFact SRTC is green too! 💚 With sustainable features such as smart lighting control, solar photovoltaic panels and a hybrid cooling system, it has received BCA’s Green Mark Platinum Certification! #BuildLite
