Lower speed limits at more Silver Zone

To make roads safer for our seniors, we lowered the speed limit at two Silver Zone locations - Bukit Merah View and Jurong West Street 52 – from 40km/h to 30km/h as part of a trial in 2020. During the trial, we observed that motorists generally slowed down and traffic flow remained smooth.

🚗 Encouraged by the results, the speed limit of 30km/h will apply permanently to both Silver Zones. We will also be progressively extending the lower speed limit to seven more locations from later this year, including Commonwealth Drive and the upcoming Potong Pasir Silver Zone.

#PSA 🌧️ With a monsoon surge expected later this week from 19-21 Mar, we are stepping up inspections and repairs to keep our roads safe.

During heavy rain, water seeps into tiny cracks in the road. When vehicles drive over these weakened spots, the pressure can cause the road surface to break down faster, forming potholes. 🕳️
