#PSA 📢 Heading to Bugis MRT station on 6 Jun 2022?

Do note that we will be conducting Exercise Station Guard – an emergency preparedness exercise – that day from 10am to 4pm on the 🔵 #DTL and 🟢 #EWL.

During this exercise, you may be asked to go through metal detector checks and have your belongings scanned by X-ray machines.

💡 #TravelTip Factor in additional time for your journey and avoid bringing bulky items since these may require more time to clear security checks.
#HappeningNow Travelling to/from Bugis MRT station on the 🔵 #DTL or 🟢 #EWL today?

You may be asked to go through a security screening as part of Exercise Station Guard. This exercise is conducted regularly to validate our security measures at public transport nodes and help familiarise commuters on how they should respond if there’s an emergency on our public transport network.

Do factor in additional travel time for the screening and avoid bringing bulky items.

#ThankYou for playing your part to ensure our public transport system continues to be safe and secure for all commuters like you and I. 😊

Our East-West Line (#EWL) trains can now turn around faster with the new Pasir Ris rail turnback! 🔁🚆💚

#FunFact The turnback uses a diamond crossover track to reduce the time taken for the trains to turn back and run in the other bound. #WhatAGem 💎

This means that the infrastructure is now in place to provide for reduced headways and shorter wait time between trains, when the need arises. 💪

Cheers to greater convenience and connectivity as we continue to improve our rail infrastructure! 🤗 #ThereRailBeMore

Here’s all you need to know about the #EWL disruption between #BoonLay and #Queenstown stations.

On 25 Sep 2024, a faulty train travelling towards the city was turned back to Ulu Pandan depot. On the way, its axle box dropped and caused the wheels of a bogie to come off the running rail and hit track equipment. This caused fractures along 1.6km of rail, and damaged three point machines, and the third rail.

Without the point machines, trains cannot be diverted onto other tracks, affecting train services on both bounds. Damages to the third rail, which is the power source for trains, also caused a power trip.

We are working hard to restore train services safely and promptly. As train service between Jurong East and Buona Vista stations is unavailable, commuters can take alternative travel options such as other rail lines, free bridging buses and regular buses between the affected stations.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.
We have commenced regulatory investigations into the disruption of train services between Jurong East and Buona Vista stations along the East-West Line (#EWL) from 25 to 30 Sep 2024.

The service disruption affected many commuters over 6 days. It also caused substantial damage to rail infrastructure that required extensive repairs.

LTA will conduct thorough investigations. To review the findings and advise on technical matters, an Expert Advisory Panel will be appointed.

The experts have expertise in rail operations and maintenance, railway engineering, rail system engineering and train design, and material science.

Investigations are expected to be completed in a few months, and LTA will release its findings to the public.

Train services between Jurong East and Buona Vista on the #EWL resumed on Tuesday and are running normally.

Here’s a recap of what happened and how train services were recovered. It was a massive effort, with over 800 workers from SMRT, LTA and its contractors working tirelessly to replace the damaged rail segments. With no power in the affected sections, workers also had to manually push 1-tonne rail segments up to 700m, each delivery taking up to 45 minutes. Meanwhile, we coordinated with SMRT and other bus operators to deploy 85 free regular bus services and up to 80 bridging buses, with over 600 staff managing the situation on the ground.

Thanks to these efforts, train services resumed. SMRT continues nightly inspections to ensure no further issues arise.

We appreciate commuters’ patience and understanding.

🚧 #PSA We’re laying new train tracks to connect the East-West Line (#EWL) to the new East Coast Integrated Depot (#ECID). When connected to the rail network, the ECID will improve rail efficiency and resilience.

🚉 To facilitate these works, #EWL train services will be temporarily adjusted at Tanah Merah, Simei, Tampines, Pasir Ris, Expo, and Changi Airport stations from 7 to 10 Dec 2024.

🗓️ During this period, there will be no train service at Simei as well as between Tanah Merah and Tampines stations.

Commuters can take 🚆 shuttle trains 🚆 that will operate between:
🟢 Tanah Merah and Expo stations,
🟢 Expo and Changi Airport stations, and
🟢 Tampines and Pasir Ris stations.

For those travelling to and from Simei Station, 🚌 Shuttle 7 bus 🚌 will run every 3 to 5 minutes between Tampines, Simei, and Tanah Merah stations.

Here’s a peek into the ongoing construction of the East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID), our unique Four-In-One-Depot, that integrates three train depots and one bus depot within a single site! The ECID will strengthen the resilience of our rail network by allowing us to launch and withdraw trains more efficiently, giving us greater ability to adjust service patterns as needed. 🟢🟤🔵

#DoYouKnow we have completed ~98% of structural and architectural works and incorporated numerous innovative features to make the development more sustainable?🌱.

📢 In the next phase of construction, we’ll progressively lay new train tracks to connect the #EWL to #ECID.
