🚧 Last night continued to be a flurry of activity across various work zones, as everyone toiled through the early morning hours, working towards service recovery.

🚉 All the affected rail segments between Clementi and Ulu Pandan Depot have been replaced, and we have also reinstated the third rail. The locomotive stress test, electric meggering test, and track circuit tests have also been completed.

🛠️ The locomotive stress test is crucial to ensure all affected rails are sturdy and welded well before we start the loaded train endurance test today. This means running a fully loaded train across the tracks, and sandbags were used to simulate the weight of a fully loaded train car.

⚙️ Meanwhile, our engineers, together with SMRT’s team, conducted electric meggering testing. This ensures that the third rail and running rail are electrically insulated, so we can safely turn on the traction power supply. ⚡

🌙 Our engineers from LTA and SMRT worked through the night to replace the 10 unreplaced rail segments that had developed new cracks, and comprehensively tested the track the track equipment. We have also conducted safety checks throughly to ensure commuter safety. The system is now ready for passenger service. 🛠️
 
🗓️ For safety reasons, westbound trains will run more slowly at 40km/h for three days from 1-3 Oct 2024. Please plan for additional 5 minutes travel time if you are travelling to the West.

Train services between Jurong East and Buona Vista on the #EWL resumed on Tuesday and are running normally.

Here’s a recap of what happened and how train services were recovered. It was a massive effort, with over 800 workers from SMRT, LTA and its contractors working tirelessly to replace the damaged rail segments. With no power in the affected sections, workers also had to manually push 1-tonne rail segments up to 700m, each delivery taking up to 45 minutes. Meanwhile, we coordinated with SMRT and other bus operators to deploy 85 free regular bus services and up to 80 bridging buses, with over 600 staff managing the situation on the ground.

Thanks to these efforts, train services resumed. SMRT continues nightly inspections to ensure no further issues arise.

Do you stay in or have visited Jurong or Buona Vista recently? If you have your OBU installed, you may have seen car park availability info on it as you drove around these two areas. 🚗

First rolled out in the CBD and major shopping areas, the alerts save motorists the hassle of searching for parking lots.

To date, close to 125,000 vehicles have been fitted with the OBU. As more vehicles come onboard, we’ll continue to explore adding more features to enhance your driving experience.

➡️ To install the OBU early, you can contact any authorised workshop to schedule an appointment. Or, for added convenience, you can arrange for it to be done during your next routine servicing too!

#GoodNews Punggol Coast station on the North East Line (#NEL) will open for passenger service on 10 Dec, 3pm! 🙌🥳

Located in the heart of #PunggolDigitalDistrict, Punggol Coast station will provide greater connectivity to the JTC Business Park and Singapore Institute of Technology (#SIT) campus, as well as the upcoming Punggol Coast Mall. 🏢

With the new station, over 200,000 households will be within a 10-min walk of a NEL station, and they can enjoy shorter travel time to the city centre and other parts of Singapore. For instance, journeys from Punggol North to Outram Park or Orchard will take 45mins on NEL as compared to 60mins today.

#DidYouKnow Punggol Coast station was fully designed by LTA’s in-house designers and managed by LTA in partnership with JTC. The station is also targeting to achieve BCA’s Green Mark Certification for its energy-efficient design and operations! 💡🌱
