7:14 Brief comments regarding Simon the Peter(Cephas) Simon the Clophas(Brother of Jesus)
14:06 Reviewing the important points regarding James brother of Jesus, Epistle of James, Ebionites, said in the last lecture.
22:11 Books of Luke and Act are edited versions of history biased favorably toward Paul and his followers.
27:56 Apocryphal Gospel of Thomas. A collection of sayings of Jesus. Saying#12 designated James as the successor of Jesus.
34:49 Other early Christian and Historical sources which has mentioned James, his leadership of the Church and his martyrdom include Apocryphal Gospel of Hebrews, the writings of the fathers of church like Clement of Alexandria, Hegesippus, Origen, Eusebius and Epiphanius. Josephus Flavius, the famous Jewish historian of the first century in his book "The Jewish Antiquities," mentions James with great admiration of his piety & character.
55:21 Following the death of James in 62 AD, Eusebius reported that the remaining apostles gathered with those left of the family of the Lord, and they took counsel together as to who would succeed James. He wrote that “they all unanimously decided that Simeon Clophas[half brother of Jesus], worthy of the throne.”
56:13 Briefly looking to the Arabic text of a hadith in the book "Kamāl al-dīn wa Tamām al-Niʿma", compiled by Shaykh Saduq (d. 991AD), regarding the mother of Imam Mahdi Lady Malika (Narjis). We focused on the following phrase and especially the word وصی: "I am Malīka, daughter of Yashūʿā, son of Qaysar Malik al-Rūm. My mother is a descendant of Jesus’s disciples (hawāriyyīn), from the bloodline of Shamʿūn, the وصی (successor, vicegerent, executor)of Jesus.
1:09:13 Reading the abstract of the article "An Ignored Arabic Account of Byzantine Royal Woman [Lady Malika(Nargis)]" By: Hadi Taghavi, Ehsan Roohi, Navid Karimi published in Al-Masaq (Journal of the Medieval Mediterranean) 2019.
1:14:23 Reading & discussing the English translation of Lady Malika's autobiography section of the hadith.
1:22:49 A discussion of the title of the grandfather of Lady Malika: Qaysar Malik al-Rūm & the other characteristics that can be extracted from the hadith.
1:29:50 List of the Byzantine Emperors(Malik) in the 8th Century AD. (None match the characteristics described in the hadith).
1:37:10 Only one Caesar the Armenian Caesar Bardas (r. 856- 866) fits the characteristics. He was the defacto ruler of the empire. Therefore, he was effectively both Caesar & Malik, hence the combined title Caesar-Malik.
1:51:04 Two independent sources corroborate parts of the hadith. Tabari in his history refers to the Caesar Bardas as supreme authority in Byzantine and Hamdan Al-khasibi the founder of the Nusayri sect in his book mentions a Christian female slave with the name Narjis Wardas (Bardas) among the female slaves of the 10th Imam.

Chapters:
0:00 Greetings & Introductory Remarks
1:06 Reading the English translation of the Q21:105 and Q66:11-12 verses.
2:24 Brief Review of what was discussed in the last few lectures
2:41 List of the Surahs of Qur'an related to the Maryam in the chronological order of revelation and the order with which the verses related to Maryam will be discussed in this series of lectures.
3:22 A brief look to the main five points/issues and their interrelation that this lecture series wants to address: 1)The Family of Imran ( آل عمران) and Family of Jesus; 2)The Sister of Aaron; 3)Joseph the Carpenter (3:44_23:50_3:36_19:29); 4)James (Jacob) the Just brother of Jesus and the fate of the true Christianity; 5)Who was the Ancestor of the mother of the twelfth Imam, Imam Mahdi, Nargis Khatoon Simon the Cephas or Simon the Clophas (Cleophas or Cleopas) brother of Jesus and James.
9:08 Looking briefly to the Arabic text of a hadith narrated in the book "Kamāl al-dīn wa Tamām al-Niʿma", compiled by Shaykh Saduq (d. 991AD),in which, Lady Malika (Narjis) mother of Imam Mahdi(atfs) introduces herself as: "I am Malīka, daughter of Yashūʿā, son of Qaysar Malik al-Rūm. My mother is a descendant of Jesus’s disciples (hawāriyyīn), from the bloodline of Shamʿūn, the وصی of Jesus(ع). In the last lecture, we saw that her grandfather Qaysar Malik al-Rūm was Caeasar Bardas (r.856 to 866AD).
13:53 Reading the English translation of the full hadith. The chain of hadith is as the following: Muhammad bin Ali bin Hatim Al-Nawfali narrated to us, saying: Abu Al-Abbas Ahmad bin Isa Al-Washsha Al-Baghdadi narrated to us, saying: Ahmad bin Tahir Al-Qummi narrated to us, saying: Abu Al-Hussein Muhammad bin Bahr Al-Shaybani narrated to us, saying. Al- Shaybani narrates the main part of hadith from Bishr bin Sulaiman whom he met in Kazimayn (near Baghdad) in tearc286AH (900AD). Bish ibn Sulaiman according to the hadith was a slave trader, from the descendants of Abu Ayyub al-Ansari ( the famous companion of the Prophet Muhammad(ص)) and himself a companion of one of the tenth and eleventh Imams (ع) and their neighbor in Samarra in Iraq.

1:11:43 Looking to two maps of the Byzantine empire first in the last year of Emperor Theophilos's reign (842AD) and the second map belongs to one year after Caesar Bardas was murdered by the future Emperor Basil I in 867(AD). This period matches with the Imamate of the 10th Imam Imam Ali Al- Hadi(ع)who lived from (828-868AD).
1:17:35 Religious controversy surrounding Icons in the 9th century Byzantine (East Roman) Empire, which in 843AD by the order of EmpressTheodoea sister of Caesar Bardas ended with victory of Iconophile party and defeat of the Iconoclast party.
1:28:52 Leo the Mathematician a significant Byzantine scholar and intellectual of the 9th century and a close friend and associate of the Caesar Bardas. The Caliph al-Ma'moun allegedly tried to recruit him to Baghdad a sign of cultural exchange between the two empires and familiarity with Arabic by the intellectual elite of the Byzantine empire, specially Caesar Bardas himself.

"The History of Zaydiyya Theological and Jurisprudential Thoughts: From the 3rd Century to the 11th Century", Lecture 4
speaker, Dr. Hassan Ansari
Feb 9, 2025

🟥 Lecture in Farsi, can be watched with closed caption (CC) and auto-translate on our channel.

Session 4:
In this session, two topics were discussed: 1) From when did the Zaidis become acquainted with the views of the Mu'tazila and, in terms of religious identity, form a connection with them? 2) When did the Zaidi school of thought, as a theological, religious, and jurisprudential school, begin to have a theory about the imamate, and what were its prerequisites and consequences for the Zaidis over the centuries until today? In this context, we mentioned that the Zaidis only became a religious group with a theory about the imamate from the time of al-Hadi ila'l-Haqq, meaning the end of the third century, and in line with this transformation, they gradually turned into a school with a jurisprudential and theological identity.

"The History of Zaydiyya Theological and Jurisprudential Thoughts: From the 3rd Century to the 11th Century", Lecture 5
speaker, Dr. Hassan Ansari
Feb 16, 2025

🟥 Lecture in Farsi, can be watched with closed caption (CC) and auto-translate on our channel.

Session 5:
In this session, three topics were discussed: 1) The history of the formation of the Zaidi school(s) of jurisprudence, particularly the three schools of Kufa, Hadiyyah, and Nasiriyyah. 2) The relationship between the Zaidis and the Mu'tazila in the 4th and 5th centuries AH and its impact on the Zaidi school of thought. 3) A study of Zaidi historiography: How did the Zaidis reconstruct their past history in the books of history and biographies of their imams, and how did this historiography aim to align the Zaidi narrative of their history with the changing identities of the Zaidis? How do schools of thought and religious doctrines attempt to establish and change their identities by determining and altering their sources of authority?
