On July 25, 1928, exactly 91 years ago, Moina Mathers (Mina Bergson) died - an active member of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn, the head of the Order after the death of Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers.
Moina Mathers (nee Mina Bergson) was born in Geneva (Switzerland) in a large family. Her father was a pianist, and they often moved from place to place so that he could teach (alas, at that time anti-Semitic sentiments took place). The family lived in poverty, but the children received a decent education. Mina Bergson's brother, Henri Bergson, stayed in Paris to receive additional humanitarian education. (Later he became a famous philosopher.) The family eventually moved to the outskirts of London, but they found the means to pay for Mina’s studies at the Slade School of Fine Art, where she was able to develop her natural talent for visual arts. In the British Museum, she studied the objects of art of ancient Egypt and Celtic culture.
It was in the British Museum that she met and became friends with Annie Horniman, who later became a member of the Order of the Golden Dawn and provided significant support to the Mathers family. There she met Samuel Liddell MacGregor Mathers, one of the founders of the Order of the Golden Dawn, her future spouse.
Despite the disagreement of Mina Bergson's parents, she entered into marriage with MacGregor Mathers, and, at his request, took the name “Moina” that sounds Scottish. They agreed that all their married life their love relationship would be purely platonic.
In the Order of the Golden Dawn, Moina Mathers took for herself the motto Vestiga Nulla Restorum (“I never go back the same way”) acted as a medium proclaiming the will of the “Secret Chiefs of the Order”. She was fluent in French, German and English, had pedagogical talent. She personally painted the Ritual Halls of the London and Paris Temple, and, subsequently, the Temples of the Order of Alpha and Omega, she also produced the regalia of the Order of the Golden Dawn. She performed at the Paris Theater in 1899 in the Rites of Isis, composed by MacGregor Mathers.
In 1927, Moina Mathers refused to eat, which was eventually the cause of her death. She died on July 25, 1928 in the hospital of the Abbey of St. Mary.

On October 3, 1884, exactly 135 years ago, Paul Foster Case was born — an American occultist of the early 20th century, author of books on tarot, one of the supposed authors of modern literary mystification "The Kybalion", the founder of Builders of the Adytum (B.O.T.A.), originally member of Alpha et Omega, an organization that inherited the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn.
Paul Foster Case's father was a deacon in the Congregational Church, and Paul eventually became an organist in it. In childhood, he was fond of lucid dreams, and this interest in him spurred Rudyard Kipling, who in their correspondence confirmed that such a phenomenon is possible, and in this area it is possible to develop.
Case became a member of the Order of Alpha et Omega, but he was distrustful of Enochian Magic, and therefore did not practice it, and also practiced sexual magic, which caused confusion on the part of Moina Mathers.
Case was fascinated by the “New Thought” movement, he met William Walker Atkinson, and co-authored the modern literary mystification “The Kibalion”, that is, he was one of the anonymous “three wise men”.
In addition, Case was fond of yoga and the study of past lives, and once faced with a man who called himself "the healer Dr. Fludd." He argued that Count Saint-Germain had sent him as a teacher to Case, and that Case should establish his own organization. Then, as Case stated, Saint-Germain telephoned him. After leaving Alpha et Omega, after some time, Case founded the Builders of the Adytum (B.O.T.A.).
He died while traveling with his fourth wife in Mexico on March 2, 1954.
