Therapeutic Power of Art in The War
"Good evening, we are from Ukraine ... Maybe it is a cliché, but I have the right to say hello in this way!!! - says Yevhenii Shcherbyna, who considers himself as a freelance artist. - I am a soldier in peacetime and wartime ... 😉
Since childhood, I like to draw, write poetry, create books and sketchbooks, play and write music as much as my intellect allows. I drew the first sticker on a smartphone in 2018, and it based on Yuri Morozov`s works, namely the universe "World of Nazai". Nowadays it is very difficult for me to draw, but I keep drawing because it is the only thing that can relieve me of stress and anxiety, even under the sounds of explosions. Knowing, that my children are far from the epicenter of hostilities, I am more or less relaxed in my statements and actions, because the only thing that worries me now is the peaceful sky over the heads of my relatives."
Yevhenii considers the question of the role of Russian culture in the Russian-Ukrainian war inappropriate: "Once I visited the Hermitage. There are collected works of various artists there, who, in my opinion, had no idea that the "brotherly" people could attack a peaceful country that just wanted to live and be free ..."
Yevhenii tells us: "In order to preserve our culture, we should read and remember the words of our artists, who warned us previously in their works that these people are not like us: they have no humanity, and they do not understand how it is possible to live peacefully and have prosperity and harmony in the house, because they only see destruction, garbage and poverty. We need to inform the world that in our country there are the most talented artists, who create masterpieces of literature, painting, sculpture, etc., and the «bright heads» of our scientists give the world unique discoveries.
Once, probably a long time ago, in 2004, a woman told me that one day Ukraine would become famous all over the world, but I didn`t think it would happen this way. We were able to endure the first days of the bombing, which was supposed to demoralize our people, but it did unite them instead. We have become like a stone, like one unshakable wall against slavery and bondage. Of course, we were ready for the war, because we have been fighting for 8 years (comment of someone who experienced it personally). After the victory we will take leading positions in all spheres of art, literature and sports, because after this experience our people will create, pouring their emotions and losses in poetry, drawings and songs, revealing their own soul, suffering and thoughts. Since the whole civilized world is contemplating Ukraine and Ukrainian people, who are creating, fighting for freedom, truth, for themselves ... "

Kenih`s Estate" is a complex monument of history and architecture of the XVIII-XIX centuries of national importance in Trostyanets, Sumy region, which includes three buildings listed in the protection lists as "Main House", "House in which the composer Peter Tchaikovsky lived and worked" and "Round Yard".
In the buildings of the estate there is an art gallery, the Chocolate Museum and the Trostyanets Museum of Local Lore. On March 1, 2022, as a result of shelling by the occupying artillery, the gate of the "Round Yard", the roof, the ceiling were damaged, the facade of the art gallery was destroyed, windows and doors were knocked out. The furniture, interiors, exhibits of the museum were damaged.

The real decoration of Mariupol before the war was the building of the Donetsk Academic Regional Drama Theater, built in 1960 by architects O. Krylov and O. Malyshenko. On March 16, 2022, as a result of a direct hit by an air bomb, the building was completely destroyed. There were about a thousand civilians in the theater's bomb shelter at that time. Several hundred people died under the ruins.

Dmytro Buryan is a Ukrainian graphic artist and sculptor from Cherkasy. Dmytro has sought to serve since the first day of Russia's full-scale invasion to Ukraine, and is now defending the state on its southern borders. He is the only artist in his department, but he is not able to engage in creativity during the service, only sometimes he has the opportunity to do a simple sketch of a machine gun or a tank from memory. He says that the best support for artists at the front is moral, because artists are "very emotional people".
Dmytro tells us his story: „In 2014, when Russia occupied Crimea and partly Donbas, I had a huge resentment because very few artists sympathized with our country by their art. These acts of Russian aggression... When only a dozen artists, who are acquaintances of mine, opened up about this topic, it was a real pain. However, now I see the depiction spreading en masse. It's being depicted in paintings and a huge number of drawings, in different styles. I am glad to see the popularity of empathy towards our nation nowadays.
🇺🇦We have the culture as a part of propaganda in a clearly good way. Century earlier, the soviet government shot down our writers, artists, for instance, Boychuk, Zerov. I understand that Russia's successful occupation of major Ukrainian territories would mean the same suffering for the current artists.
We can see it's repeating by common civilians. In the governmental point of view, the art follows the residual principle. Private business is being financed by our government much more than the art of young, self-sufficient and original artists. I hope it will change“.

Можна знищити скільки завгодно пам'ятників, та не стерти з пам'яті українського народу імена справжніх Героїв, які поклали своє життя за волю України. Пам'ятники відбудуються, постануть ще кращі, ще промовистіші.
7 березня 2022 окупаційними військами знищено меморіальну стелу Герою України, всесвітньо відомому українському оперному співакові Василеві Сліпаку, яку було встановлено поблизу смт. Луганське Донецької області. Стела буде відновлена, а слава і честь героїчного захисника Вітчизни навіки вкарбується в пам'яті наступних поколінь.

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin church in Dergachi, Kharkiv region was built of wood, consecrated in 1685. In the early 19th century a new brick church was built in the style of late classicism. There were few such churches left. Jacob Turansky, priest Fedor Turansky, assistants Oleksandr Ostashevsky, Semen Kvitka, and parishioners took part in its construction.
The church kept true values: the Gospel of 1664, the Apostle of 1688, the Conversations of John Chrysostom of 1624, and the silver cross, a gift from Georgy Filevsky in 1743 and a silver chalice.
After the shelling by Russian troops on April 4, it was severely damaged, including the dome of the temple. On the facade you can see the holes from the wreckage, and in the area in front of the temple there is a funnel from a shell. The blow knocked out the windows. The Russian military also hit the Sunday school and the shop selling icons.

- Якою ти бачиш культуру України після Перемоги?
Вважаю що вона буде дуже актуальною у світі. Україна стала новим символом боротьби за демократичні цінності та свободу. Впродовж історії свобода завжди була для нашого народу його основою. І сьогодні цей «бій Давида та Голіафа» є радше боротьбою цивілізаційної культури та дикунства.
Гадаю, що після Перемоги культурне середовище буде конкурентним і поліфонічним. Воно приречене на розвиток, адже маємо величезний потенціал.
- В якому напрямку розвиватиметься сучасне українське мистецтво/література/театр тощо?
Думаю, що розвиватиметься у напрямку свободи. Адже, коли нація сплачує неймовірну ціну за цю свободу, то це не може не відобразитися в мистецтві. Сміливість і спроможність виходити за рамки робить його цікавим.
Гадаю, що воно досягне нових рівнів самоусвідомлення і просунеться в бік подальшої інтеграції в глобальні мистецькі процеси та взаємодію.
- Що можуть сьогодні та після Перемоги робити діячі культури та мистецтва на культурно-мистецькому та інформаційному фронтах?
Кожна особиста дія чи жест, що наближає Україну до Перемоги, — важливі. Це може бути багато речей: створення робіт, продаж їх на іноземних майданчиках (зараз особливо актуальним є NFT), переказ коштів благодійним фондам, волонтерство, робота в соціальних мережах, піклування про своїх близьких. Гадаю, що кожен сам знає, що йому робити, і це робить. Перемога буде за нами, бо з нами — правда і Бог.

За інформацією спільноти "Азовські греки", на 16.04.2022 у Маріуполі згорів краєзнавчий музей. Невідомо, чи вдалося щось врятувати. 23 березня російські загарбники знищили будівлю Художнього музею імені Архипа Куїнджі у Маріуполі, де зберігалися оригінали картин видатних майстрів українського живопису. Вщент зруйновано і пам'ятник Митрополиту Ігнатію.

Від початку російсько-української війни 2014 року українські мистці й мисткині перебувають у безперервній ситуації напруги, невизначеності та хвилювань. Свідомо чи несвідомо, явно чи опосередковано – воєнний дискурс щоденно був присутній в їхньому житті впродовж восьми років.
Виставку «За крок до війни» присвячено жахам війни й передчуттю цих подій. Незаконне вторгнення Росії в Україну 24 лютого 2022 року активізувало процеси в сучасному мистецтві України. Мистці й мисткині реагують на те, що відбувається і, як ніколи доти, образно трансформують у своїх картинах і скульптурах внутрішнє та зовнішнє сприйняття.
Спираючись на особистий досвід 2014 року, (коли частину Донбасу окупувала Росія), виходець із Донеччини, художник Петро Антип передбачив початок повномасштабної війни Росії проти України. Вісім років тому Петро Антип і його земляк Сергій Захаров через свою проукраїнську і проєвропейську позицію були змушені залишити рідні домівки й шукати прихисток у Києві – столиці України. 24 лютого цього року війна наздогнала їх удруге.
У Музеї міста Падерборна демонструють добірку робіт Петра Антипа, Сергія Захарова/ Serg Zakharov (Донбас/Київ), Олександра Сердюка / Olexandr Serdiuk (Харків), Ігоря Панчука/ Igor Panchuk , Олексія Коношенка/ та Вікторії Романчук/ Viktoriia Romanchuk (Львів), створених до й під час війни. Твори є разючими свідченнями страшних подій безглуздої війни – передчуттями та роздумами, які бентежать не лише українців.
За складних обставин картини та скульптури до Падерборна були привезені безпосередньо з Харкова, Києва та Львова.
Виставка покликана познайомити німецького глядача з сучасним українським мистецтвом, показати йому унікальність української культури та історії, і так боротися з російською пропагандою про міфічні “братні народи”.

Завдяки нашим друзям Олегу Белодедову та Віктору Корсаку, ми змогли отримати та розподілити дуже багато гуманітарної допомоги у міста де це потрібно. Там де люди зазнали великих втрат через російських агресорів-мародерів допомога потрібна постійно!!!
Також дякуємо небайдужим французам, котрі надали необхідні медикаменти, тремо білизну та речі для наших бійців!
Всі грузи вже доставлені у пункти призначення!

Thanks to our friends Oleg Belodedov and Viktor Korsak, we were able to receive and distribute a lot of humanitarian aid in cities where it is needed. Where people have suffered heavy losses due to Russian looters, help is needed constantly!!!
We also thank the caring French for providing the necessary medicines, underwear and things for our soldiers!
All goods have already been delivered to their destinations!

До Міжнародного дня музеїв Музей міста Падерборна (Німеччина) підготував невеличкий проморолик з поточними виставками - #Monumenta та #EinenSchrittVorDemKrieg - виставкою 6 сучасних українських митців з Горлівки / Києва, Харкова та Львова. У виставці #ЗаКрокДоВійни беруть участь: Петро Антип, Олександр Сердюк, Сергій Захаров, Ігор Панчук, Олексій Коношенко та Вікторія Романчук.

19.05. відбулася екскурсія виставкою #EinenSchrittVorDemKrieg у Міському музеї німецького Падерборна. Виставку для місцевих художників провели кураторка Марина Стрельцова та художник Петро Антип за сприяння директора музею Маркуса Рунте.
Німці щиро цікавляться творчістю українських колег, їхньою долею в зв'язку з російсько-українською війною та намагаються допомогти всім, чим можуть. Тож нас запросили представити роботи українців, які через брак виставкової площі не ввійшли до експозиції в Stadtmuseum Paderborn, у місцевому Kunstraum під час днів відкритих дверей у художніх майстернях уже на наступних вихідних.
У виставці беруть участь Петро Антип, Олександр Сердюк, Сергій Захаров, Ігор Панчук, Вікторія Романчук і Олексій Коношенко.
