#Shimla - The Queen of Hills ❤️❤️❤️

This is #KalkaShimlaRailway, a 2 ft 6 in narrow-gauge railway in North India which traverses a mostly-mountainous route from Kalka to #Shimla. It is known for dramatic views of the hills and surrounding villages.

#JakhuTemple is a popular tourist site. Dedicated to #LordHanuman, it houses a 108-foot-tall idol of the deity. Due to its location on the highest point of #Shimla, it offers sweeping views of the Shivalik ranges. Legend has it that Lord Hanuman stopped here in his quest for the sanjeevani plant, which was the herb needed to cure Lord Lakshmana as he was injured in the battle against Ravana. Another story suggests that one of Lord Hanuman's sandals fell at this spot, and thus a temple came to be built here. The temple lies about 2.5 km away from the famed Ridge in Shimla. It takes on a celestial charm during monsoons.

Located at #TheRidge's east end is the striking #ChristChurch that has Victorian coloured glass windows. It opened in 1846 and is one of the oldest surviving churches in northern India and #Shimla's most famous landmark.

#Shimla is the capital of the northern Indian state of #HimachalPradesh, in the #Himalayan foothills. Once the summer capital of British India, it remains the terminus of the narrow-gauge Kalka-Shimla Railway, completed in 1903. It’s also known for the handicraft shops that line The Mall, a pedestrian avenue, as well as the Lakkar Bazaar, a market specializing in wooden toys and crafts.

A journey by the #Kalka #Shimla #ToyTrain is an experience of a lifetime! The #UNESCO #WorldHeritage listed train chugs up the mountain, past pretty as a postcard stations and hill-towns. Outside the window, the landscape is a technicolor film- from the scorched foothills to pale green forests of chir to the dense green of blue pine and deodar. Hours dribble away nonchalantly as the engine huffs and puffs its way up the Shivaliks.

#Mashobra is a town in #ShimlaDistrict of #HimachalPradesh. It is connected to the state capital #Shimla (earlier #Simla) through the historic Hindustan–Tibet Road built in 1850 by Lord Dalhousie.

#Shimla - Step back in time aboard the #KalkaShimlaToyTrain, a #UNESCO #WorldHeritageSite that connects the Indian plains to the 'Queen of Hills,' Shimla. Built in 1903, this toy train ride is one of India's most incredible feats of engineering covering a staggering 102 tunnels, 864 bridges and 919 stunning curves.

#ChristChurch is one the oldest #churches in North India and was built by the British in 1857 to serve the large Anglican British community in the area. The majestic appearance of the church and its stunning location makes it a prime attraction in Shimla. The church has stained glass windows, which represents faith, hope, charity, fortitude, patience, and humanity. It is one of the long lasting legacies of British rule in India and also #Shimla's most popular landmark. The church building is constructed in the Neo-Gothic style of architecture and anyone visiting Shimla should spend some time in this glorious structure.
