In April, our #AMEOs detected 32 offences and impounded 14 non-compliant Active Mobility (AM) devices during various enforcement operations around Singapore.

We’ve observed an increase in offences involving obscured, improper, or false number plates on Power-Assisted Bicycles (PAB) from 2023 to 2024.

Working with the National Delivery Champions Association, we recently apprehended a rider with an obscured PAB number plate.

In a separate operation, we also caught two others using false number plates.

⚠️#Reminder First-time offenders caught using false number plates may face fines of up to $5,000 and/or 12 months’ imprisonment.

Some riders have reported possible fraudulent use of their PAB plate numbers. If you suspect misuse of your PAB plate number, do:
🚨 Report it via the OneService app

We impounded 78 devices during an islandwide enforcement operation targeting non-compliant active mobility devices (AMDs) in public areas and housing estates.

👮 This is part of our ongoing efforts and preventive measures to address the rising number of fire incidents involving non-compliant AMDs in residential areas.

LTA is empowered to take enforcement action against non-compliant Power-Assisted Bicycles (PABs) & Personal Mobility Devices (PMDs).

🚫 Under Rule 3 of the Road Traffic (Power-Assisted Bicycles Approval) Rules 2004, it is an offence to keep non-compliant PABs. LTA can impound non-compliant PABs from any location.

🚫 Under Section 45 of the Active Mobility Act, LTA can impound devices found on public paths, including HDB common corridors and stairwells, that endanger other public path users.

📝 Notices will be issued to owners of impounded registered devices. PABs & e-scooters must be registered with LTA. Owners of unregistered devices can contact LTA for verification and investigation.
