We’re making enhancements to the road networks and commuter infrastructure in Buona Vista and Commonwealth to support future commuter & traffic demands in the area.

This includes:
1) ☂️ Covered linkways from Buona Vista and Commonwealth MRT stations to nearby bus stops🚏🚌
2) Lifts at two pedestrian overhead bridges at North Buona Vista Road and across Commonwealth Avenue
3) Reconfiguration of footpaths 🚶 and cycling paths 🚴 including ramps to connect Commonwealth Avenue and Commonwealth Avenue West to the Rail Corridor
4) Road enhancement 🚗 at the junction of Commonwealth Avenue West, North Buona Vista Road, and Commonwealth Avenue.

To facilitate the works, a 269.1sqm (approximately 1.5% of total land area) at the fringe of The Metropolis will be acquired by the Government. Existing building structures will not be affected.

These works to improve traffic flow and walkability in the area will start in 2024 and will be ready by 2028. 👷
#KeepCalmAndCycleOn 🚴🏻It is going to be even easier to cycle in the Northeast and East side!
We have just called a tender for new cycling paths in seven towns in the two regions.

🚴🏽‍♀️🚶🏾To be completed from 2024, the paths will improve links within each town and to nearby towns. Residents will enjoy more space for walking and cycling. These will be created through widening existing paths, adjusting facilities such as bus stops and drains, and repurposing road space if necessary.

#CyclingAhead These paths will add to the more than 530km of cycling paths today, enroute to our goal of some 1,300km by 2030. 💪🏼

🙌🏽 Hurray to better cycling journeys ahead, and even more reasons to #GoGreen and #MoveLite! 💚🚴🏼

Our green buses just got greener! 🚌🌿

Following the successful trial of two solar panel-fitted buses in 2021, Go-Ahead Singapore (GAS) will be deploying 50 more of such buses from now till end-Apr 2023! #WeAreWalkingOnSunshine ☀️😎

#FunFact Based on the trial, GAS was able to save 3-4% of fuel a year. This translates to an annual reduction of about 3.7-4 tonnes of carbon emissions per GAS bus. 😱 #GreenForTheWin 💚

Try catching one of these buses and #MoveLite with us! 🤗

#PSA We recently marked the start of construction works for the Jurong Region Line. 🚆🥳 We’re happy to report that other aspects of this project are also progressing smoothly.

Four electrical and mechanical services (E&M) contracts for the JRL have just been awarded. These are:

1️⃣ Supply and installation of E&M for Tengah Depot to Puretech Engineering Pte Ltd and Shinryo Corporation respectively; and

2️⃣ Supply and installation of E&M for the 10 JRL1 stations to Guthrie Engineering (S) Pte Ltd and Kandenko Co Ltd respectively.

When works are ongoing, we’ll try our best to minimise the inconvenience to the community.

Check out our video to learn about some of the measures that we’ve taken to manage the engineering challenges and reduce disamenities to residents during its construction. 👷‍♀️💪👷
