Today, we caught 4 drivers and impounded their foreign-registered vehicles for providing illegal ride-hailing services within Singapore and to/from Malaysia.

⚠️🚗 #Reminder Avoid using illegal ride-hailing services. Lacking proper licencing and insurance, they pose serious risks to passengers, especially when accidents occur.

We will continue to take action against drivers who provide illegal hire-and-reward services, including cross-border trips without a valid Public Service Vehicle Licence (PSVL).

Offenders face up to $3,000 fine, six months imprisonment, or both. Their vehicles may also be forfeited.

⚠️ #Reminder Do not excessively tint vehicle windows as it impairs visibility and affects motorists’ safety.

Today, the sole proprietor of a workshop (“Stealth Film Workz Pte Ltd”) was convicted for illegally modifying vehicles to install non-compliant tinted films on windscreens and windows. He was charged under section 5(5) of the Road Traffic Act 1961 for three separate illegal installations between 2023 and 2024.

🚫 Workshops or motorists who illegally modify or use such vehicles can be fined up to $5,000, imprisoned up to 3 months, or both. The penalties for repeat offenders are doubled.
#DidYouKnow Active Mobility Device (AMD) fires increased by 22% last year?🔥

Be device-safe to protect yourself and your loved ones from AMD fires.

Do not tamper with your device’s electrical components or install third party parts, such as an additional battery pack, electrical lighting or other electronic accessories.

Do not attempt to repair a device on your own. Always return faulty devices to the original manufacturer or official retailer for service.

Dispose of your device through NEA-appointed e-waste recyclers if it has non-original parts or has been in long-term storage without use.

To enhance the stability of point-to-point transport (P2P) supply, we will introduce a mandatory three-year lock-in period for all newly registered or converted business-owned chauffeured private-hire cars (cPHCs).

From 19 Feb 2025, new business-owned cPHCs will be required to remain classified as a cPHC for at least three years.

The lock-in period will not apply to existing business-owned cPHCs that were registered before 19 Feb 2025 as well as individually-owned cPHCs.
#DidYouKnow In 2024, the number of offences involving personal mobility aid (PMA) lookalikes increased by more than five times compared to 2023? Common offences include riding non-compliant devices, and riding on wrong paths.

#TakeNote ⚠️ PMA lookalikes, which typically have more than one seat, are classified as personal mobility devices (PMDs). PMDs are only allowed on cycling paths and shared paths. They must also comply with device criteria and be UL2272-certified. Offenders may be fined up to $10,000 and/or jailed for up to 6 months.

We have been taking firm action, and will continue to do so, against errant users and retailers of non-compliant devices. Do exercise caution and only purchase compliant active mobility devices.
