#DidYouKnow With the construction of the #TEL extension, a 1km stretch of the rail viaduct at Tanah Merah MRT station will be decommissioned in 2026. 🚆

As part of our sustainability efforts 🌱🌎, we’re looking to repurpose the viaduct area and a section of the #Changi Depot Building to:

✅ Create a vibrant public space for various community and/or recreational uses 😍; and

✅ Reduce demolition waste 🏗 at the same time!

From 1 Jan 2024, Stellar Experience Private Limited will operate and manage the advertising spaces at:⁣

- Bus & taxi shelters maintained by LTA🚌🚕⁣
- Pedestrian infrastructure such as selected overhead bridges, underpasses & covered linkways at designated locations🚶🏻☀️☔⁣

They will also install, update and upkeep bus stop poles. 🚏⁣

This is the first time that the advertising concessions for our bus and taxi shelters as well as designated pedestrian infrastructure are consolidated into a single contract. 📝 This will enable the advertising operator to sell across multiple platforms and boost advertising revenue, and in turn the concession fees.⁣

#PSA From 20 Nov to 31 Dec 2023, the #ERP rates will be reduced at the following locations and time periods in view of the December school holidays. 🗓🚗   Pre-school holiday rates will be reinstated from 2 Jan 2024 onwards. The rates for other gantries remain unchanged.

In addition to the 5️⃣ pilot towns announced at #COS2023, we’ll be expanding the #FriendlyStreets initiative to all towns in Singapore by 2030! 🥳 This will create more pedestrian-friendly and convenient ways for residents to travel within their ‘hoods to key amenities like hawker centres, community clubs, and schools.
 
Together with the community, we’ll be working closely together to discuss and implement the features that are tailored to their needs.🤝

#PSA 📢 Since the opening of the Thomson-East Coast Line Stage 3 (#TEL3) last year, the average weekday ridership on TEL has almost tripled from 60,000 in Oct 2022 to 177,000 in Oct 2023!

With more commuters using TEL3 (hello shorter travelling time! ⌚), the overall ridership for some bus services 🚌 plying along TEL segments has ⬇️ by ~30-40%. #ChangingTravelPatterns

To reduce duplication of bus services with TEL and to reallocate finite resources to better serve residents from new estates 🏡👪, some bus services will be adjusted from 🗓️10 Dec 2023.

#PSA 📢 Heading to Woodlands MRT station on 30 Nov 2023?

Do note that we will be conducting Exercise Station Guard – an emergency preparedness exercise – from 10am to 4pm on the 🔴 #NSL and 🟤 #TEL.

During the exercise, commuters will be directed towards the #NSL and #TEL fare gates near Exits 3 and 4 respectively. You may be asked to go through metal detector checks and have your belongings scanned by X-ray machines.

💡 #TravelTip Factor in additional time 🕰 for your journey and avoid bringing bulky items since these may require more time to clear security checks.

We’re back for a 3rd season of the Singapore BusTech Grand Challenge! 🚍 But this year, we’re going bigger, as we’ll also be introducing our first ever Singapore RailTech Grand Challenge! 🤩🚆
 
💥 It’s going to be an action-packed Saturday as bus and rail technicians from our public transport operators (PTOs) and students from Institutes of Higher Learning will go head-to-head with one another to showcase their skills and creativity in solving land transport issues. 🧠🛠

#PSA At the Singapore BusTech & inaugural RailTech Grand Challenge earlier today, Acting Minister for Transport Mr Chee Hong Tat announced that more electric buses (#ebus) will be progressively deployed from 🗓️ Dec 2024 onwards.

In total, we’ll be procuring 360 e-buses 🔋🚌 and deploying #ElectricVehicles charging systems ⚡🔌 in bus depots at:

📍 East Coast
📍 Gali Batu
