We are thrilled to introduce Medina Nesro, the talented mastermind behind the successful events of GDSC AASTU . As our Lead Event Organizer, Medina has played a pivotal role in ensuring that every event is meticulously planned and executed with precision. Her keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and ability to deliver high-quality results on time have made her an invaluable asset to our team.

Medina's dedication to her work is evident in the smooth execution of our events, including the much-acclaimed AASTU Tech Fest. Her meticulous planning and organizational skills ensured that everything was in perfect order, making the event a resounding success. Beyond her organizational prowess, Medina's extensive network of connections allowed us to source high-quality products at low costs, further contributing to the success of our events.

In addition to her exceptional event organizing talents, Medina has accumulated a wealth of experience across various roles. Medina contributed as a part-time Mobile Application Developer at Kuraztech and gained hands-on experience in Flutter development during her internship at Kuraztech. Furthermore, she underwent intensive training in secure web and mobile application development as a Summer Camp Trainee at the Information Network Security Agency and mentored students in Python and website development during a summer camp at Yenetta Code

Introduction Abigail Hassen - GDSC AASTU Lead Project Manager 2023/2024

Abigail Hassen, our lead project manager at GDSC AASTU , has been a driving force behind the success of our projects. Known for her confidence, lively spirit, and friendly demeanor, Abigail was one of our most active team members. Her fluency in English, often compared to that of a native speaker, made her a standout in communication and collaboration.

She meticulously organized tasks, ensuring every detail was executed perfectly, and played a crucial role in leading the stage for one of our major events. Additionally, Abigail provided vital support to other teams, particularly during the AASTU Tech Fest, and was also an active participant in our GDSC study sessions this year.

Abigail has a wealth of experience across various roles. She is currently a Content Creator at A2SV | Africa to Silicon Valley, where she crafts engaging videos, graphics, and social media posts. As a Product Manager and Web Developer intern at Eskalate, she has gained hands-on experience in both product management and web development, working with tools like Next.js and React.js. Her prior experience includes a 10-month training program with A2SV | Africa to Silicon Valley, where she honed her skills in data structures, algorithms, and web development.

Reflecting on her time as a Project Manager, Abigail shared:

"As a Project Manager overseeing GDSC's work this year, I've had the privilege of collaborating with a talented and dedicated team of which I'm really proud to be a part. It's been an amazing experience to witness the passion and hard work of every individual involved in our team."

We continue to shine the spotlight on the brilliant minds at GDSC AASTU. Today, we're thrilled to introduce Fasika Gebrehana, one of our Project Managers. With an extensive background in mobile development, frontend design, and mentoring, Fasika has been a dynamic force in our team.

Fasika is currently honing her skills as a Mobile Developer at A2SV | Africa to Silicon Valley, where she collaborates with a team of developers to create robust mobile applications using Flutter. Her hands-on experience includes state management, API integrations, and working with clean architecture to maintain high code quality and reliability. Her problem-solving and teamwork abilities have been enhanced through this experience, enabling her to manage the full development lifecycle.

Additionally, Fasika was a Frontend Developer at LelaTech, where she’s working on projects using Next.js and Builder.io. Her journey also includes mentoring aspiring developers at KoderLabs, where she helped guide young coders through the basics of development.

As a Project Manager at GDSC, Fasika has led with creativity and a passion for making an impact. She reflects on her experience:

"As Project Manager, this year has been an amazing adventure of self-discovery and giving back to our community through GDSC. I've realized that as young people, we have the power to make a real difference. Under the guidance of our project manager, we started off with lots of energy and a strong team spirit, diving into various community projects and taking on our roles with creativity. Along the way, we've learned so much about working together and thinking outside the box, both from our successes and our slip-ups. Today, we're excited to introduce Biruk Mesfin, an essential member of our GDSC AASTU community who has made significant contributions as both a content manager and graphics designer. Biruk has been key in enhancing our community’s visual presence by creating eye-catching designs that resonate with our audience. His creativity and attention to detail not only enriched our branding but also helped triple our subscriber count, boosting our social media reach and engagement. In addition to his design work, Biruk served as our backstage manager for many events, including the AASTU TECH FEST. He played a vital role in ensuring everything ran smoothly by overseeing technical aspects.

Beyond his contributions to GDSC AASTU, Biruk has a rich professional background. He is currently the Lead Web Developer at Spark Tank, where he focuses on connecting investors with entrepreneurs through innovative technology. As the Founder of Innovate Fusion, he led a team that achieved remarkable success in the A2SV Generative AI For Africa Hackathon, winning the Best Technical Implementation Award for their project, The Architect, which showcased groundbreaking ideas in generative AI.

Biruk also serves as the Co-Founder and Public Relations Lead of the AASTU Software Engineering Association, where he works to strengthen the community of aspiring software engineers. His experience as a Front-End Developer Intern at Eskalate and as a Software Engineering Intern at Headstarter further demonstrates his technical skills and commitment to professional growth. He also worked as a Product Manager Intern at A2SV | Africa to Silicon Valley, where he actively participates in product development processes.

As Biruk continues to innovate and inspire, we are excited to see how he will further contribute to the tech community and empower those around him as the incoming GDSC AASTU Lead for this year. His journey exemplifies dedication and passion for technology, design, and collaboration, making him a valuable asset to GDSC AASTU and beyond. Today, we are excited to introduce Doi Amdissa, the final core team member in our series. Doi was an extended member of the content team, where she worked as a graphics designer, contributing her creative expertise to help the content team create stunning visuals. Her designs have played an important role in elevating the quality and appeal of GDSC AASTU’s content.

Beyond her work with GDSC AASTU , Doi brings a wealth of experience from other roles, including her current positions as a Content Creator and UI/UX Trainee at A2SV | Africa to Silicon Valley, where she hones her design skills using tools like Figma. She is also a Competitive Programming Trainee, working to master Python, data structures, and algorithms. In addition, Doi has mentored others as a Content Creator Mentor at SheCodes AASTU, and her dedication to creating and teaching has been invaluable to our community.

Reflecting on her experience with GDSC AASTU, Doi shared:
