We are going to thoroughly revise the topic of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) with the experts in the filed, Dr. Sanjivan Kandasamy from Australia and Dr. Charles S. Greene from USA. We will outline the role of the orthodontist in the management of TMD.
As usual, we also are going to present and discuss several clinical cases.

Hi Colleagues!
We have recently been getting many questions from you on splints and orthodontic treatment. When splints should be used? How do they work? What benefits can be realistically expected?
I think a good place to start exploring these questions is this article by our future guest, Dr. Charles Greene.
P.S.
Don’t forget to register for our TMJ meeting on the 6th of April:

Do you usually try to find a so-called “centric relationship” of the condyles in the fossae before initiating an orthodontic treatment?

Here is a valuable MRI study by Sanj Kandasamy et al. (with my highlights) where they demonstrated the lack of accuracy and predictably of various centric relationship registration methods. They concluded:
“Any procedure that deviates or positions the condyles away from a position they naturally occupy is not only unphysiologic but perhaps also potentially harmful to the patient in the long term”.
You’ll be able to discuss this paper with Sanj personally at our meeting on April 6:
