Asset quality review of NBFCs ruled out
RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das said that there was no proposal to conduct an asset quality review (AQR) of non-bank finance companies that are facing a credit squeeze since the collapse of infrastructure financier IL&FS in August last year.

Largest SO2 emitter in world
India is the world’s largest emitter of anthropogenic sulphur dioxide, which is produced from coal burning, and greatly contributes to air pollution, a study claimed on August 19. According to an analysis of a National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) data released by environmental NGO Greenpeace on August 19, India has more than 15% of all anthropogenic sulphur dioxide (SO2) hotspots in the world detected by the OMI (Ozone Monitoring Instrument) satellite.

Stable cyclocarbon ring of 18 carbon atoms
A team of scientists from Oxford University and IBM Research successfully created cyclo[18]carbon (C18), the smallest cyclocarbon made from 18 carbon atoms, which is predicted to be a thermodynamically stable carbon ring.

Former Australian pace spearhead Mitchell Johnson has been elected as an Honorary Life Member of the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), custodians of the game’s laws. Vikram undergoes de-orbit manoeuvre
Chandrayaan 2’s moon lander Vikram underwent the first of two ‘de-orbiting’ manoeuvres on 3 September 2019 morning. The four-second operation performed from ISRO’s Bengaluru control centre has slightly trimmed the lander’s orbit towards its destination.

Apache AH-64E inducted in IAF
The Indian Air Force (IAF) has formally inducted eight of the 22 AH-64E Apache helicopters at the Air Force Station, Pathankot. The Boeing AH-64E Apache helicopters, which are expected to improve battlefield attack capabilities for the IAF, were inducted by Air Chief Marshal BS Dhanoa.
