🅾 George and the Dragon 🅾
Once upon a time there was a brave knight called George. George had lots of adventures as he travelled by horse across many lands.
One day he came to a small village and met a man who lived in a cave next to the village.
The hermit told the knight about the awful things that were happening there. A terrible dragon had come to live in the lake and attacked the village every day.
The villagers didn't know what to do. First, they gave the dragon all their food, but the dragon just took the food and still attacked the village.
So then the villagers gave the dragon all the animals from their farms. The dragon took all the animals, but continued to attack the villagers.
So then they gave the dragon all their gold and jewels. The dragon took all their money, but still was not satisfied.
The king sent his army to try and capture the dragon, but the dragon was too strong and the knights of the army were too scared and they ran away.
With nothing left to give, the king could only think of one thing to help protect his people. He sent his only daughter, the princess, to the lake to wait for the dragon.
When George heard this he rode as fast as he could to the lake. Just then the dragon jumped out from the lake and was going to eat the princess.
George attacked the dragon. He fought very bravely, won the fight and killed the dragon. George and the princess returned to the village and everyone was very pleased that they would have no more problems with the dragon.
Today, the story of George's bravery is remembered and George is known as the patron saint of many countries.

روزی روزگاری شوالیه شجاعی به نام جورج زندگی می‌کرد. جورج سوار بر اسبش از سرزمین‌های زیادی عبور کرده و ماجراهای بسیاری داشت.
روزی او به روستای کوچکی رسید و مردی را دید که در غاری نزدیک روستا زندگی می‌کرد.

سپس مردم همه طلاها و جواهراتشان را به اژدها بخشیدند اما او باز هم راضی نشد.
پادشاه ارتش خود را برای گرفتن اژدها فرستاد اما اژدها خیلی قوی بود و شوالیه‌های ارتش خیلی ترسیدند و فرار کردند.
پادشاه که دیگر هیچ‌چیزی نداشت که به اژدها بدهد برای حفاظت از مردم روستا به یک‌چیز فکر کرد. او تنها دخترش را به دریاچه فرستاد تا در انتظار اژدها بماند.
وقتی جورج این‌ها را شنید، با نهایت سرعت به سمت دریاچه تاخت. در همان لحظه بود که اژدها از دریاچه بیرون آمد تا شاهزاده را بخورد.

The Boy Who Cried Wolf
There once was a shepherd-boy who kept his sheep outside of a village.
One day, he thought he would play a trick on the villagers and have some fun. He ran toward the village crying out with all his might: “Wolf! Wolf! Come and help me! The wolves are trying to get my sheep!”
The kind villagers left their work and ran to the field to help him. But when they got there the boy just laughed at them. There was no wolf there at all!
The villagers were confused and said, “Dear boy, you must not play such tricks. This is not a laughing matter.” “Alright,” said the boy. “I won’t play that trick again.” The villagers went back to the town and the boy went back to his sheep.
Still another day the boy tried the same trick again. He yelled out with all his might: “Wolf! Wolf! Help me the wolves are coming after my sheep!”
Again the kind villagers came running and when they reached the boy again he laughed at them. There were still no wolves.
The villagers were now upset with the boy. They looked down at him and said, “This is not a laughing matter. You play these tricks but they are not funny. We are beginning to feel like you do not truly need our help when you say you do!” The villagers went back to the town and the boy went back to his sheep.
Then one day a wolf did break into the herd of sheep. He began taking the sheep one by one away from the field. In a great fright, the boy ran for help. “Wolf! Wolf!” he screamed. “There truly is a wolf in my flock of sheep! Help!”
The villagers heard him but they thought it was another mean trick. No one paid any attention to the crying boy.
“Please, please!” pleaded the boy. “I am so sorry for lying. I promise never to trick you again! I promise to only tell the truth!”
The villagers looked up from their work. “We see now that you are truly upset, just as we were when you tricked us. Now that you tell the truth, we will help you .”
The villagers and the boy went back to the field only to see one sheep left. They followed the trail that the wolf left behind him to retrieve all the taken sheep. When the boy had each one of his sheep returned he was eternally grateful for the help. From then on, he always told the truth.

روستائیان حیران شده بودند و می‌گفتند: «پسر جان تو نباید از این شوخی‌ها بکنی. این چیزها شوخی‌بردار نیست.» پسرک گفت: «باشه. دیگه از این شوخیا نمی‌کنم.» مردم به ده بازگشتند و پسرک هم نزدیک گله‌اش رفت.
روزی دیگر بازهم پسرک همان حقه را سوار کرد. با تمام قوا داد می‌زد: «گرگ! گرگ اومده! کمک کنید گرگه اومده گوسفندارو بخوره!»
بازهم روستائیان مهربان دوان‌دوان از راه رسیدند و بازهم وقتی پسرک را دیدند او به آنها خندید. بازهم گرگی در کار نبود.
اهل ده این بار از دست پسرک دلگیر شده بودند و به او گفتند: «نباید با این چیزا شوخی کنی. تو این حقه‌ها را سوار می‌کنی اما اصلاً خنده‌دار نیست. کمکم فکر می‌کنیم که وقتی از ما کمک می خوای اصلاً کمک لازم نداری! روستائیان به ده بازگشتند و پسرک به نزدیک گله برگشت.
یک روز گرگی به گله گوسفندان حمله کرد. گوسفندان را یکی‌یکی از چراگاه دور می‌کرد. پسرک وحشت‌زده به دنبال کمک می‌دوید. «گرگ! گرگ اومده! راست‌راستی یه گرگ به گله من زده! کمکم کنید!»

اهالی دست از کار خود کشیدند. «مثل‌اینکه واقعاً حالت گرفته‌شده. همونطور که وقتی ما رو سر کار می ذاشتی حالمون گرفته می‌شد. حالا که راستشو گفتی بهت کمک می‌کنیم.»
اهالی ده به چراگاه بازگشتند و دیدند که فقط یک گوسفند باقی مانده است.

📒 The Loneliest Creature On Earth
Imagine the loneliness of speaking a language that only you can understand. Researchers have been studying a whale, who communicates in a language not recognizable by other whales. This whale has spent over two decades looking for a friend who will understand him.
Whales are renowned for their songs. Often complex, sometimes simple, songs are their only method of communication. But this unique whale is so out of tune with other whales that no one can hear or understand it.
A team of scientists has been listening to this whale for over two decades. They believe he is a fin or a blue whale. Whatever the case, it has been calling in search of a mate for many a moon.
Its high-pitched song is so different from other whales that its calls for friendship continue to fall on deaf ears.
Researchers have nicknamed this creature ‘the loneliest whale in the world.’
His song was first discovered in the vastness of the North Pacific Ocean in 1989. While recording submarines, the US Navy accidentally picked up the unmistakable noise of whale songs. Dr. William Watkins researched the sounds and noticed that one whale’s song was completely different to the others.
A male fin or blue whale communicates on a frequency which is too deep for the human ear. This ‘lonely’ whale sings at a pitch, which is three times higher.
Such an obscure song receives no response from other whales. Scientists are confused why a healthy creature doesn’t change its tune and communicate in a regular pattern used by other whales.
Without a shared means of communication, we would all live an isolated existence. In such a world our deepest thoughts, feelings, experiences and beliefs would die a lonely death. Our most treasured moments would be unexpressed, unshared, and unloved.
Yet is the whale lonely, or has it chosen to speak in a different language to the rest of its species out of choice?
May-Ann Daher, who researched the whale, is unsure.
She explained, “People like to imagine this creature out there swimming by his lonesome, just singing away and nobody’s listening. But I can’t say that.”
No matter if he’s alone or lonely, this solitary creature will continue to search the ocean for another whale who speaks the same language and shares the same song.

A team of scientists has been listening to this whale for over two decades. They believe he is a fin or a blue whale. Whatever the case, it has been calling in search of a mate for many a moon.
Its high-pitched song is so different from other whales that its calls for friendship continue to fall on deaf ears.
Researchers have nicknamed this creature ‘the loneliest whale in the world.’
His song was first discovered in the vastness of the North Pacific Ocean in 1989. While recording submarines, the US Navy accidentally picked up the unmistakable noise of whale songs. Dr. William Watkins researched the sounds and noticed that one whale’s song was completely different to the others.
A male fin or blue whale communicates on a frequency which is too deep for the human ear. This ‘lonely’ whale sings at a pitch, which is three times higher.
Such an obscure song receives no response from other whales. Scientists are confused why a healthy creature doesn’t change its tune and communicate in a regular pattern used by other whales.
Without a shared means of communication, we would all live an isolated existence. In such a world our deepest thoughts, feelings, experiences and beliefs would die a lonely death. Our most treasured moments would be unexpressed, unshared, and unloved.
Yet is the whale lonely, or has it chosen to speak in a different language to the rest of its species out of choice?
May-Ann Daher, who researched the whale, is unsure.
She explained, “People like to imagine this creature out there swimming by his lonesome, just singing away and nobody’s listening. But I can’t say that.”
No matter if he’s alone or lonely, this solitary creature will continue to search the ocean for another whale who speaks the same language and shares the same song.

🦠 Day of the Dead
👉I arrive in Guatemala on The Day of the Dead, November 1st. I’m curious about this holiday, so I go to the cemetery to see what’s happening. What I find is quite interesting.
The atmosphere is like a party. There are people everywhere. Families are sitting around the graves of their dead ancestors. They clean the graves and add fresh flowers. I walk through the cemetery and admire the beauty of all the colorful flowers.
There is also color in the sky, because many kids are flying kites. Some families are having a picnic
next to the graves. They eat, drink, and chat together. People laugh and smile.
In the Unites States, cemeteries are always somber. We certainly never have festivals or parties next to graves. We don’t laugh or play music or fly kites in cemeteries either.
I find that I prefer the Guatemalan approach. I like the way they remember and celebrate those
who have passed away. I like that they acknowledge death, instead of denying it the way Americans do. I like that there is life, as well as death, in their cemeteries.
Guatemalans call it “The Day of the Dead”, but it is also a day to appreciate life.

👈من در روز مردگان ، 21 نوامبر، به گواتمالا رسيدم . در مورد اين روز تعطيل كنجكاو هستم، از اين رو به گورستان رفتم تا ببينم چه اتفاقي در حال وقوع است. چيزي كه دريافتم بسيار جالب است.
فضاي آنجا همچون يك ميهماني است. انسان ها همه جا هستند. خانواده ها كنار مقبره اجداد خود نشسته اند. آنها قبر ها را تميز مي كنند و گلهاي تازه روي آنها مي گذارند. من در طول گورستان راه مي رفتم در حالي كه زيبايي گلهاي رنگارنگ را تحسين مي كردم.
آسمان نيز رنگي بود، زيرا بسياري از كودكان كايت هاي خود را هوا مي كردند. برخي از خانواده هاي كنار قبرها پيك نيك دارند. غذا مي خورند و مي نوشند و با هم گپ مي زنند. آن ها بلند مي خندند و لبخند بر لب دارند.
در ايالات متحده آمريكا، گورستان ها هميشه تاريك و غم انگيز است. ما قطعاً هرگز كنار قبرها جشن و مهماني برگزار نمي كنيم. نمي خنديم يا موسيقي نمي نوازيم يا در گورستان كايت هوا نمي كنيم.
من احساس كردم كه ديدگاه گواتمالايي ها را ترجيح مي دهم. من شيوه ي ياد بود و جشن گرفتن آنها را براي از دست رفتگانشان دوست دارم. من اين را دوست دارم كه آنها مرگ را تصديق مي كنند ، به جاي آمريكايي ها كه آن را انكار مي كنند. من مي پسندم كه در گورستان هاي آنها در كنار مرگ ، زندگي هم هست.
گواتمالايي ها اين را "روز مردگان" مي نامند، اما اين همچنين روزي براي بزرگداشت و قدرداني از زندگي هم هست.

Scientists and doctors can’t make their minds up about coffee. One study says it’s really bad for us and the next report says it’s good for us. I’ve even read that 10 cups a day is good for our brain. I like a cup of coffee at certain times of the day. I must have a coffee first thing in the morning. I can’t survive without my morning coffee. I have another cup or two when I get to work. And that’s it. I never drink coffee after lunchtime. If I do, I can’t sleep at night. The only time I drink coffee in the evening is if I go to a nice restaurant. Coffee seems a lot more complicated these days. When I was younger it was just coffee. Now it’s latte, frappucino and all kinds of other strange words.
دانشمندا و دکترا هنوز نتونستند درباره قهوه به یه نظر قطعی برسند. یه مطالعه می گه واسمون واقعاً بده و گزارش بعدی میگه واسمون خوبه. من حتی یه بار جایی خوندم که ده فنجون در روز قهوه واسه عملکرد مغزمون مفیده. من یه فنجون قهوه رو در زمان های معینی از روز دوست دارم بخورم. قهوه اولین چیزیه که من باید اول صبح بخورم. در واقع من بدون قهوه صبحگاهیم نمی تونم اون روز رو به سر کنم. وقتی هم که سر کار هستم یک یا دو قهوه دیگه می خورم و دیگه تموم. من هیچوقت بعد از وقت ناهار قهوه نمی خورم. اگه بخورم، اون شب نمی تونم بخوابم. تنها وقتی که من بعد از ظهر قهوه می خورم زمانیه که به یه رستوران خوب برم. قهوه این روزا خیلی پیچیده تر به نظر میاد. وقتی جوونتر بودم فقط و فقط قهوه بود. الان به صورت ها و برندهای مختلف مثل کافه لاته، فراپوچینو و انواع مختلف واژه های عجیب موجوده.

👉During a momentous battle, a Japanese general decided to attack even though his army wasn't
greatly outnumbered. He was confident they would win, but his men were filled with doubt.
On the way to the battle, they stopped at a religious shrine. After praying with the men, the
general took out a coin and said, "I shall now toss this coin. If it is "heads" , we shall win. If it is "tails" we shall lose."
"Destiny will now reveal itself."
He threw the coin into the air and all watched intently as it landed. It was "heads". The soldiers
were so overjoyed and filled with confidence that they vigorously attacked the enemy and were
victorious.
After the battle. a lieutenant remarked to the general, "No one can change destiny."
"Quite right," the general replied as he showed the lieutenant the coin, which had "heads" on both
sides.

سكه را به هوا انداخت و همگي مشتاقانه تماشا كردند تا سكه بر زمين افتاد.."رو" (خط) امد. سربازان ازفرط شادي از خود بي خود شدند و كاملا اطمينان پیدا كردند و با قدرت به دشمن حمله كردند و در جنگ پيروز شدند.
بعد از جنگ ستواني به ژنرال گفت: سرنوشت را نمی توان تغيير داد.
ژنرال در حالي كه سكه اي كه دو طرف ان "رو" (خط) بود را به ستوان نشان ميداد، جواب داد: "كاملا حق با شماست"
