In short, Napoleon is considered one of, if not, the best military commander of all time. He revolutionized warfare into what we know of it today. He avoided sieges as they were long, costly, and ineffective, he taught his soldiers to live off the land instead of relying on thin and expensive supply lines, created strong organizational foundations such like the corp, and most of all he believed in the highest morale possible for his soldiers, regularly promoting soldiers and regimental pride.

He also made lasting political changes and foundations, most notably the Napoleonic Code, which abolished feudalism, separated church and state, and promoted meritocracy. The Napoleonic Code was so effective it is still in use by many states today.

He was born on the island of Corsica in 1769. He joined the French army at the age of 16 and quickly rose through the ranks. He led the French army to victory in many battles during the French Revolutionary Wars.

He became the First Consul of France in 1799 and Emperor of France in 1804. But he was defeated at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 and exiled to the island of Saint Helena, where he died in 1821.
