Data Accessibility Policy

👉The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has come out with a draft Data Accessibility and Use policy.

👉The policy proposes to improve data availability, quality and use in line with the decade’s current and emerging technology demands.

👉Any data sharing shall happen within the legal framework of India, its national policies and legislation as well as the recognized international guidelines.

👉All data and information generated, created, collected, or stored by the central government and authorised agencies shall be covered by the policy.

👉All government data will be open and shareable unless it falls under a negative list of data sets, categorised under the negative list of datasets that won’t be shared; and restricted access and shared only with trusted users, as defined by the respective ministry or department, under the controlled environment.

✅Unlocking high-value data across the economy.

✅Facilitating a congruent and robust governance strategy.

✅Realising an interoperable digital infrastructure.

✅Data skills and data-driven culture.

Kuki tribe

👉The Kukis constitute one of several hill tribes within India, Bangladesh, and Myanmar.

👉In Northeast India, they are present in all states except Arunachal Pradesh.

👉Some fifty tribes of Kuki peoples in India are recognised as scheduled tribes.

👉The first resistance to British hegemony by the Kuki people was the Kuki Rebellion of 1917-19 after which their territory was subjugated by the British and divided between the administrations of British India and British Burma.

👉Up until their defeat in 1919, the Kukis had been an independent people ruled by their chieftains.

👉The majority of Kukis are Christians. Traditionally, the Kukis were animists.

P-8I Patrol Aircraft

👉It is a long-range Maritime Reconnaissance and Anti-Submarine Warfare Aircraft.

👉It is an Indian variant of the P-8A Poseidon aircraft that Boeing company developed as a replacement for the US Navy’s ageing P-3 fleet.

👉With a maximum speed of 907 kmph and an operating range of over 1,200 nautical miles, the P-8Is detect threats and neutralize them if required, far before they come anywhere near Indian shores.

👉The Indian Navy became the first international customer for the P-8 aircraft in 2009.

👉The Navy had procured eight P-8Is under a USD 2.2 billion deal in 2009.

👉The aircraft are part of the 312A Naval Air Squadron based at Arakkonam in Tamil Nadu.

👉In 2016, the Navy exercised the optional clause for four more P-8Is in a deal worth over USD 1 billion.

👉Further in May 2021, the US State Department approved the possible sale of six additional P-8I aircraft and related equipment, to India.

👉The six P-8Is will come installed with encrypted communication systems since India has now signed the foundational agreement Communications Compatibility and Security Agreement (COMCASA) with the US.

👉Iraq’s Razzaza Lake was once a tourist attraction known for its beautiful scenery and an abundance of fish that locals depended on.

👉Razzaza Lake, also known as Lake Milh, Arabic for Salt Lake, is located in Iraq.

👉It is the second-largest lake in Iraq and is part of a wide valley that includes the lakes of Habbaniyah, Tharthar and Bahr al-Najaf.

👉The lake was constructed as a measure to control floods in the Euphrates and to be used as a huge reservoir for irrigation purposes.

Fair and Remunerative Price (FRP)

👉FRP is the price declared by the government, which mills are legally bound to pay to farmers for the cane procured from them.

👉Mills have the option of signing an agreement with farmers, which would allow them to pay the FRP in instalments.

👉Delays in payment can attract an interest up to 15% per annum, and the sugar commissioner can recover unpaid FRP as dues in revenue recovery by attaching properties of the mills.

👉The payment of FRP across the country is governed by the Sugarcane Control order, 1966 issued under the Essential Commodities Act (ECA), 1955 which mandates payment within 14 days of the date of delivery of the cane.

👉It has been determined on the recommendation of the Commission for Agricultural Costs and Prices (CACP) and announced by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA).

👉The FRP is based on the Rangarajan Committee report on reorganising the sugarcane industry.

Karakattam Dance

👉Karakattam is a form of folk dance performed at festivals, conferences, roadshows and primarily at Mariamman festivals.

👉 It is one of the many creative traditions that owe their existence to Mariamman, the rain goddess.

👉While the dance form is not dying, it has undergone radical change and adaptation in recent years.

👉Karakattam and agriculture have a link. It is because the Mariamman pooja is held in the month of Medam after Makarakoythu (harvest season) in Kerala,

👉Mariamman is considered to be the goddess of the rain.

👉Karakattam is mostly famous in Tamil Nadu, it’s performed in different parts of Kerala as well.

❇️Characteristics:

✅Karakattam performances are characterised by a lot of swaying movements and joyous banter.

✅It requires a lot of practice and dedication. Three tiers of flower arrangements of different colours sit on top of a container filled to the brim with either water, rice, or soil.
All of this is balanced on the head of a Karakattam dancer while he or she dances.”

✅Other highlights include blowing fire, inserting needles into eyes, and keeping balance while holding a bottle parallel to the ground on the performer’s back.
