We understand that some commuters may be concerned about recent news pertaining to the COVID-19 clusters at some bus interchanges. Ensuring the safety of our public transport (PT) workers and commuters has always been our top priority. Here are some facts we would like to share with you regarding the recent developments.

Most of the PT frontline workers who recently tested positive for COVID-19 are vaccinated and all are asymptomatic or experiencing mild symptoms. None are seriously ill. Proactive testing has allowed us to detect and isolate these cases early.

There is no major impact on bus operations so far. We have worked with our public transport operators to develop contingency plans that can be implemented quickly should more cases emerge.
Commuting on PT remains safe for commuters as these journeys are transient and everyone is observing Safe Management Measures, such as mask-wearing and refraining from talking. The cases are mostly confined to the workplace and there is no evidence to suggest that transmission occurred on public transport.

To better protect PT workers and their families, we have worked with PTOs and the National Transport Workers’ Union to strengthen our Safe Management Measures at their workplaces.

#FoodForThought Wondering what our future land transport landscape might look like and how do we get there? 🤔

Co-innovation and co-creation with the industry is an important approach we are taking to create a greener and more efficient transport system. Hence, these are the key themes at the second edition of our #LandTransportIndustryDay - a platform for LTA, other public agencies and industry partners to gather and exchange insights to drive us towards the future.

👋 Say hello to widened footpaths that will make walking (and shopping!) along Havelock Road even easier!

We are permanently transforming the shopfront area along 715 and 745 Havelock Road after a trial. From what used to be a narrow path, the new path will become one that is wider and more accessible to the elderly and disabled.

Since walking or cycling around the area will soon be more convenient, so why not try leaving your car at home when popping by the area? 😉 #GreenerCommutes

We also took the opportunity to get feedback and suggestions from residents and other stakeholders, and will be incorporating one of the suggestions to build a ramp for barrier-free access.

Works for permanent widening will start in mid Sep and they are expected to complete in Q1 2022.

Let’s look forward to more transformative efforts to make our urban spaces more inclusive and liveable for everyone! 🎉

Happy #WorldEVDay! 🥳 #DidYouKnow Our 60 new electric buses ⚡️🚌 cut down our CO2 emissions by almost 8,000 tons yearly? This means taking about 1,700 cars off our roads! #HelloFreshAir

To further reduce the carbon footprint of public transport, all our public buses will be of cleaner energy by 2040.

This way, we can all enjoy fresher air and quieter environments, while greening our land transport!

Our Public Transport Operators (PTOs) and bus captains (BCs) have been doing their utmost to maintain the current bus service levels amid the exponentially rising wave of COVID-19 infection in the community. This includes BCs voluntarily coming back to drive during their off-days.

However, as these measures cannot fully make up for the loss in manpower, our PTOs have started lengthening headways for some services to ensure that our BCs have enough rest time.

Given the dynamic situation, some bus services may see longer waiting times than others. At present, the increase in waiting times for the majority of affected bus services is within five minutes, with a very small number of services seeing increases in waiting times greater than ten minutes.
You are encouraged to check the MyTransport.SG app for more details of the arrival time of specific bus services.

To reduce the impact on commuters, we will also implement measures such as deploying more double-deck buses for services with higher loading when possible. This includes bus services that serve schools, as we expect increased ridership on these services when students return from their school holidays next week.

We will monitor the situation closely and make further adjustments as the situation evolves. We apologise for any inconvenience caused to commuters, and we seek your support and understanding as we make the adjustments.
