Happy Birthday Critical Mass! Vor dreissig Jahren fand in San Francisco das erste Mal eine Critical Mass statt. Mittlerweile treffen sich auf der ganzen Welt Fahrräder und andere nicht-motorisierte Fortbewegungsmittel einmal im Monat und nehmen sich die Strassen von den Autos zurück.
Wir feiern den 30. Geburtstag dieser Bewegung ein Wochenende lang: vom 30.9. – 2.10. in Bern.
Was steht auf dem Geburtstagsprogramm?
Wir treffen uns einmal täglich zur grossen Critical Mass:
Freitag, 30.9. – 18:45 Helvetiaplatz, Bern
Samstag, 1.10. – 16:00 Rosengarten, Bern
Sonntag, 2.10. – 11:00 Europaplatz, Bern
In Bern wird ein Camp organisiert für alle, die anreisen und eine Übernachtungsmöglichkeit suchen.
Das Camp bietet Möglichkeit zum gemeinsamen Austausch, zum Kochen, Essen, Fahrrad reparieren etc. Infos zum Camp werden rechtzeitig veröffentlicht. Wichtig: Zelt und warmen Schlafsack mitbringen.
Daneben lässt das Xyclona-Wochenende Platz für mehr: Wir feiern das Fahrrad und die Xerokratie mit Party, Alleycat und so weiter.

Happy Birthday Critical Mass! Thirty years ago, the first Critical Mass took place in San Francisco. Now, all over the world, bicycles and other non-motorised means of transport meet once a month and take back the streets from cars.
We are celebrating the 30th birthday of this movement for a whole weekend: from 30.9 - 2.10 in Bern.
What is on the birthday schedule?
We will meet once a day for the big Critical Mass:
Friday, 30.9. - 18:45 Helvetiaplatz, Bern
Saturday, 1.10. - 16:00 Rosengarten, Bern
Sunday, 2.10. - 11:00 Europaplatz, Bern
A camp will be organised in Bern for all those who are travelling and looking for a place to stay overnight.
The camp offers the possibility to exchange ideas, cook, eat, repair bicycles etc. together. Information about the camp will be published soon. Important: Bring a tent and a warm sleeping bag.
In addition, the Xyclona weekend leaves room for more: we celebrate the bicycle and Xerocracy with a party, Alleycat and so on.

An alle Menschen, die sich mit der SBB nicht so gut auskennen: Die FAhrradmitnahme ist kostenpflichtig. Ihr müsst für die Mitnahme eine sogenanntes Velobillet lösen. Meist ist das TAgesticket die günstigste Variante (14 Franken). Bei manchen Zügen ist die Mitnahme mittlerweile sogar Reservationspflichtig. Auf der Webseite seht ihr hinter den entsprechenden Zügen ein FAhrradsymbol. Diese ganze Schikane könnt ihr umgehen, indem ihr euer Fahrrad in eine Tasche verpackt (Vorderrad abmontieren und Lenker drehen sodass er parallel zum Rahmen ist). Dann gilt es als Gepäckstück und kostet nichts. Teilweise wickeln Leute ihr Velo auch einfach in ein grosses Laken, das wird aber wohl nicht immer akzeptiert.

You have to pay en extra ticket for your bicycle (mostly the cheapest option is a day ticket, 14 franks). On some trains it's even obligatory to have a reservation for your bike. On the website you can see a bicycle symbol behind these trains. The best option to not obey to this shitty system is to pack your bike in a bicycle bag (unmount front wheel and change the handlebar into a position parallel to the frame). This way it counts as luggage and you don't have to pay for it. Some people after preparing their bike that way just wrap it in a sheet or so but some conductors don't accept this, some do.
As you can see the precious SBB really puts a lot of effort in supporting people who care about the climate hahaha 😇
