π MY EDUCATION STORY - 1/4
I thought it would be useful to share a bit about my education with you. Some will draw inspiration, some will get motivation, some will reach out to ask further questions (you are always welcome to do so in our chat group).
So, I have always loved studying - the idea of learning new things and then implementing them in real life fascinates me. Therefore, I was an excellent student at high school - in my 11th grade, I was awarded a scholarship of the local government and graduated with a gold medal (with honors) when I was 17.
I know that I want to work in international business, so I chose to enrol in World Economics in my Bachelor's. Russia gives the opportunity to study for free to everyone with excellent grades, so I didn't pay anything for my education (at all). During my Bachelor's I discovered the vivid student life, participated (and won!) business championships where a team of students solves real business problems of companies. I was an intern in several companies but felt that my level of education was still not enough. I graduated with honors again at 20.
Next, I decided to apply to the best business school of Russia and Eastern Europe - the Graduate School of Management SPbU. Master's degrees there are taught completely in English, so I had to take IELTS to get accepted. This is where my IELTS preparation began (and lasted only for 3.5 weeks because I procrastinated a lot π ). I got 8.0 on IELTS Academic, then took GMAT and a couple of internal exams. And finally received the fully-funded offer for the Master in International Management programme.
My education at GSOM was wonderful - full of activities, meetings, events, and amazing opportunities. It deserves a separate post.

π MY EDUCATION STORY - 2/4
After starting my first semester at GSOM, I knew I was in the right place right away. The place where I had always wanted to be - surrounded by smart and ambitious young people, studying business and management with the possibility to build a career in a corporate or startup world. The GSOM Master's in Management programme was the only one in Russia that made it into the Financial Times MiM rating and that means - lots of worldwide possibilities for its graduates.
One of the prominent features of this degree is the ability to get into CEMS. CEMS is a unique double-diploma programme that allows one to study in 2 European business schools while enjoying the benefits of being in the very closed carefully-selected group of students. I definitely recommend it to everyone! It's a life-long membership in the exquisite circle of people.
The thing is, to enrol for the CEMS programme one must apply only after getting into the Master's and starting the first semester. It's obligatory to have excellent grades, internship experience in good firms, know the CEMS values, explain your motivation.
So, in my last selection round for CEMS, I set my preferences for the second business school to study in. I listed HEC (Paris), LSE (London), HSG (St. Gallen, Switzerland), Bocconi (Milan). Finally, I got in and soon received the invitation letter of my second business school ππ₯°
All during studying in my first semester in GSOM. I had no idea what adventures awaited me in the 3 following semesters!

π MY EDUCATION STORY - 3/4
During my studies at GSOM, I had participated in dozens of events worth remembering.
For example, I was the Head of Corporate Relations department at the Management of the Future conference. This is a huge business event that only 100 best students across the country are invited to. The conference lasts for 3 days and students participate in various workshops and lectures conducted by the leading Russian companies. Those participants who do well in corporate events get job offers! π€ This was an amazing experience in the organizing committee where I made lots of connections in the business.
Of course, I tried business ventures myself. It was so intriguing to gather a team, develop a vision, motivate others and set up something (a service / product) that would hopefully disrupt the market. WSE is one of the successful projects that I had started during my university years π₯° Yes, solving business problems for Google and advising a marketing strategy for Netflix might be very interesting, but there comes the time when we all want to try something of our own.
Speaking of courses, we studied everything that influences companies' life cycle (finance, marketing, strategy, operations, human resources, IT). Each course was practice-oriented, meaning that we worked on the real-life situations, discussed recent successes or failures, came up with strategies for new startups, and of course - looked for internships at different companies abroad. But the Master's degree is not only about classes, as you have already found out!
In the next part, I will share with you a bit more about international education and the way to finance yourself. Click the button below if you want to read what happened next ππ

π MY EDUCATION STORY - 4/4
In Switzerland, I didn't only study either. There were so many events by the corporate partners and student organisations that I could literally go out every single day! For example, Goldman Sachs (one of the most well-known investment bank in the world) ran a cool meetup for girls only where they invited a confectionary chef who taught us to cook sweets from the Swiss chocolate. Each of us brought home a box of hand-made sweets and we had an opportunity to chat with the bank's representatives over an apΓ©ro (a serving of food and drinks) ππ«
I got to travel as well - we went to Milano, Germany and I drove around Switzerland, admiring the beautiful architecture, waterfalls, historical castles and small cozy cities - the scenery that is so much unlike the typical one I had been used to at home.
The business-school degree opens doors to many events specifically tailored for business students. For example, I was one of the lucky 4% of applicants who got to participate in the Corporate Finance Unlimited workshop that is conducted annually by BCG in a stunning historical chatΓͺau near Paris. On the course of 3 days, we were solving a real-life business case for a company, eating delicious French food and networking with other European students of top business schools.
Would I recommend such a lifestyle? Definitely! π₯Applying for a Master's degree was one of the best decisions in my life. However, it can be really challenging to find enough money for such a life-changing experience. Yes, living abroad is expensive. And not all countries provide free options like Germany, for example.
The financial problem is not the only obstacle though. Young people are afraid of choosing a weak university. They don't know where and how to start searching for a scholarship. This really disturbs me because I am sure that every single one of us deserves the best education ever.
Therefore, I've come up with a new WSE service - the Scholarship search! Me and my team will be glad to help you with this challenging task. Just submit a request here and we'll be in touch to specify your profile details and start looking for the most suitable funding for you βΊοΈπͺπ»
