The 2022 World Cup was probably the most active football web3 has ever been. We had tremendous interest in fan tokens, a huge amount of NFT collections launched, many crypto x sports partnerships. So, it is not surprising to see SportFi partnerships already lining up for the next World Cup. If the FIFA launches its own coin as the biggest football organization, that sets an example for other football brands to launch web3 products as well. I think WC 2026 could be another huge push for SportFi.

Fan Token market caps in million USD of the remaining clubs in the Champions League quarterfinals:

Re-verified the partnership status of football clubs with their respective fan tokens, it is visible via the checkmark icon on Rocketfan.

✅ All tokens in the top 18 by market cap still have an active partnership with their football club. Of 25 football fan tokens with a market cap above 1 million USD, an active collaboration for the token could be verified for 23 of them (except POR and BJK).

❔ The partnership status of the Turkish football tokens $SAM, $ALA, $GFK, $IBFK and $GOZ was set to unknown. I am currently not sure whether these partnerships are still active or not.

❌ The partnership status of $ATLAS, $SAN, $UCH and $RACING was set to expired as communicated by Socios per email on January 7.
❌ $CHVS was also set to expired as Socios stopped using the official branding of the club for the token in the Socios app.
❌ $BJK was set to expired, because there is no mention of the token on Besiktas' website and the last time the club mentioned it on social media was in 2023.
❌ $HATAY was set to expired, because the banner about the token was removed from Hatayspor's website and the last time the club mentioned the token on social media was in 2022.
