The UEFA Champions League Final Opening Ceremony presented by Pepsi was rendered with Octane Render!

The US DJ and producer Marshmello helped set the mood at the Estádio do Dragão as Selena Gomez and Khalid joined him for a spectacular immersive performance before kick-off between Manchester City and Chelsea.

Some production insights: The virtual production stages for the 6 minutes show were all rendered with Octane Render and all in 4K@50fps HDR, which made it very challenging to put out that many frames in time. To make it even more challenging, the stadium for the performance got changed, just 10 days before delivering.

Just one of the countless use cases for RNDR. 💪

Today NVIDIA announced the Geforce RTX 3080 Ti GPUs at Computex 2021.

They used OTOY's OctaneBench.com with RTX ON for comparing rendering performance to last gen Ti variants.

Tl;dr thanks to the number of CUDA cores and identical memory bandwidth, we expect basically the same performance as the RTX 3090, but with half as much VRAM.

The latest version of this industry standard benchmark is also used for calculating $RNDR payouts for node operators.

A great interview with RNDR advisor Beeple done by Sriram Krishnan, a general partner at Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hk7MXQr1k50

His mindset when asked about his future after the 69 million art sale on Christie's:

"I honestly look at it more like a tech company. Especially at that level of money, to me that's an investment. I wanna see them to get a return on that investment. I wanna see it go up. I really look at this like I'm gonna take that money and use it to do more ambitious more resource intensive projects that I couldn't do before."
#RNDR CEO Jules Urbach spoke to Fast Company about helping Hollywood navigate the #NFT universe.

OTOY, in many ways, sits at the nexus of the NFT explosion. The company serves as an Adobe-like software provider for NFT creators.

Among its board members are director J.J. Abrams; former Google CEO Eric Schmidt; former Lucasfilm CTO Richard Kerris; Mike Winkelmann (aka Beeple); and Ari Emanuel, CEO of Endeavor, whom Urbach says he talks to “every day about where the space is headed.”

Urbach also talks to Emanuel in more specific terms. He says OTOY’s collaboration with Endeavor “is to take everything that they touch . . . and provide digital representation of that. For example, we scan actors or athletes. That could become an NFT. Similarly, for UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship), which Endeavor owns, we’re in discussions about providing a 3D pipeline blockchain for that.”

Beyond an #NFT, what happens when an artist like Beeple might take it, with rights attached, and use it, do something with it, and create a royalty flow?

Essential read by Matthew Ball, Managing Partner of Ball Metaverse Research Partners which launched the Metaverse ETF (NYSE:META) last month.

"The availability and development of computing power will constrain and define the Metaverse."

"OTOY hit on the idea of tapping a network of idle GPUs by creating the Ethereum-based RNDR network and [Render] Token."

'Star Trek' creator Gene Roddenberry's life, legacy and creative work will be memorialized by the #RNDR Network for future generations to use on the blockchain.

Using RNDR, the Roddenberry Archive will capture deep 3D asset metadata from show original assets, blueprints and models.

"What goes into the RNDR archive is a special NFT that is a zero edition - it’s never ever for sale, it’s a root NFT intrinsic to the creator or artist’s work or concept or sourced material (ideally in a way we can render on demand to produce a viewable asset) - using this, Beeple can link any past or future NFT to the root version in his archive and can make secondary or tertiary monetization by controlling what the RNDR archive version grants to NFTs based in that work or IP." - Jules Urbach

RNDR is coming to Apple‘s iPad - Part II

https://youtu.be/Akpv_ziwPJg

Iconic artist Mike “Beeple” Winklemann takes the USS Enterprise for a spin on M1 iPad! Octane X is already available free of charge for Apple's macOS. The iPad version is currently being tested as seen in this video with Beeple.

Beeple wrote art history this year with the first purely digital artwork NFT ever offered at auction house Christie's Inc. The auction closed with a bid of over $69 million, making him the third-most-valuable living artist. He is joining OTOY's Roddenberry Archive project as a creative consultant, and, alongside legendary Marvel and DC Comics star illustrator Alex Ross, will help commemorate the Roddenberry Archive and cross-link it to both the Alex Ross and Beeple RNDR Archives announced earlier this year.
