All Over You

#2000s #electroclash

Gene Serene (quite a sexy vocalist) with All Over You. This was a moment in time. It was almost felt like a new genre - but then it wasn't one. Quite a few things in the 2000s were like that.

One more from Gene Serene. This is a jolly listen. I especially like the overlapping vocals towards the end - it reminds me of a similar bit in Idlewild's When I Argue I See Shapes.

A very rare and special recording: Lloyd Cole & the Commotions playing live, during their prime in 1987! This has performances of songs from the Mainstream album that I've never heard live anywhere else.

It also includes something I never thought I would hear: a proper live performance of my favourite song of theirs, Hey Rusty! The only other live versions I've heard have been crappy acoustic ones by Cole on his own, which deprive the song of its energy and triumphant tone. This version, complete with 80s synths, is so much better!

I love this fan remix of Erasure's song Phantom Bride. It's in two versions, the first with vocal and the second instrumental. The latter is interesting because you hear how upbeat the music actually is behind the morose lyrics. I think the remixer has added to it musically, though, resulting in a surprisingly fun little number.
