Hi everyone, I know a bunch of people are approaching the end of the isolation period, and I thought it might help to know what it takes to stay within the legal bounds of the Public Health Direction.
--
ISO:
After test, must isolate for 168 hours. (If you tested at 1pm Wednesday, then isolate until 1pm next Wednesday). (Direction, para 5).
END OF ISO:
Do you have a fever or acute respiratory symptoms?
- Fever = 37.5 or more (Source: Direction, glossary)
- Acute Respiratory Symptoms = sore throat, runny nose, cough that brings up mucus. (Source: Direction, glossary; QHealth site)
If No: Isolation ends at 168 hour mark.
If Yes: After 168 hours, isolation ends when your symptoms do.
(Source: Direction, para 13)
NB: QHealth website also includes a cough that is getting worse.
NB: Explicitly does not include ongoing symptoms of mild fatigue, mild dry cough, or a loss of taste/smell.
NB: a second COVID test doesn't impact on your time in iso, and you don't need to take a second test. (Source: QHealth).
POST-ISO:
- Have to wear a face mask for 7 days (Source: Direction, para 16), indoors + when can't distance outdoors (QHealth).
- Can't go into vulnerable or high-risk settings.
