Freestyle mic session 🎤 implementing New ideas
👉 Are Beatboxers musicians or athletes?
I believe we are a mix of both. Let me share my thoughts:
🎵 We are making sounds from our mouth, in order to create music, making us musicians! Indeed, we beatboxers design our sounds, play with rhythms and notes, and compose our tracks if we do not freestyle (freestyling is also about performing music!)
💪 We are also pushing our limits, beyond the known abilities of the human body. New sounds are discovered and designed every year. New performance records are beaten (fastest beatbox, battle statistics…). To push ourselves, we work hard out – in various fields (power, cleanliness, pitch precision, freestyle abilities, composing abilities, originality in sound design…)
📙 My philosophy is that we are sportingly musical. Let me repeat it again, we are sportingly musical.
Music is the center of beatbox, it is the main pillar. Sports are involved in the way of working out our beatbox. We push hard to sound loud, we break down to understand, we rehearse and repeat A LOT to succeed in the execution of a single technique, we tweak it over the days to make it a bit louder, a bit faster, a bit cleaner… Day by day!
That’s the beauty of Beatbox. We spread music, while being physically active, while pushing our limits, to honor the human body, to honor ourselves, making ourselves proud and fulfilled!
Being sportingly musical as a beatboxer is the dream job that I’m living, I can’t be happier for that and I owe that to you!
That’s why I am creating a COMPLETE beatbox course and YOU can be my beta testers!
This course is entitled “Level Up Your Beatbox” and is still in a very early beta version.
Let me talk about it: “Level Up Your Beatbox” has a goal to help you in the practice of beatbox, whatever your end goal may be (professional or hobbyist performer or battler…)
My goal is to support you in your practice, from the material development (sounds & timing mastery, finding your own style…) to getting your tracks finished (structuring, arranging…) in a sustainable way over the long term (to become a professional performer). That’s the purpose of the course.
The course is in a very early beta version and much more content will be added to it. For now, you can benefit from Timing Workouts and a total of 180+ beatbox patterns.
What content will be added in the future:
• Developing your Sound Kit
• Rhythm in Depths
• Coming up with new material
• Structuring & arranging
• Execution
• Taking Action & Mindset
By purchasing this course (to the price of a 1 hour lesson), you will get lifetime additional content updates for free!
https://www.nazcabeats.com/level-up-your-beatbox
I’m doing this because this is the course I dreamt I had when I was a younger and less experienced in beatbox.
Let me know if there’s anything else you would like to learn!
Thanks for your support 💙

Try this when you feel uninspired
If I tell you:
“Compose a beatbox track from scratch, do whatever you want, go”
You feel lost
You don’t know where to start
Even if you come up with something, you won’t be sure that’s it’s great
Then, if I tell you
“Compose a house beatbox track, in the following structure (Intro - Buildup - Drop - Bridge Drop 2). Use 3 different bass sounds in the whole track. Breakdown the 2nd drop in a trap beat and use a 32th note triplet roll in it”
Now we can talk!
You have a starting point
Composing your track becomes an inspiring, fun and interesting challenge!
Creating with constraints helps coming-up with new ideas!
In that condition it may be hard, depending on your current level, but you can create your own rules!
For example, you can simplify the structure, you can make the 32th note triplet roll a 16th note one! It’s up to you!
Composing also requires material.
💡 To come up with a final beatbox track, the creative process can be divided into two axes
Developing your material (sounds, patterns, fillers, melodies…)
Composing and arranging (sum-up the ideas, compose each part of the track, arrange the different parts to make a final piece)
And then of course you need to rehearse your track so you can perform it live. The creative process can also get updates.
For example you found new material over the months and you want to update your track so it stays fresh.
My goal, as a beatbox mentor is to help you develop your material, and help you compose beatbox tracks!
So, if you’re interested in leveling up your beatbox to reach your goals, to create new tracks, I’m starting out the new course “Level Up Your Beatbox (Beta)”

I beatboxed 5 hours a day for a week.
A tougher challenge than I thought…
Last week, I started a new challenge in order to push my limits beyond their boundaries.
I wanted to beatbox for 5 hours a day for 6 days!!!
Since the beginning of my consistent beatbox workouts in November 2019, my average formal workout time is around 1 hour a day. (rounded 1600 hours for 1650 days). These training sessions don’t count the casual workouts in the car, in events or in the shower.
Throughout my beatbox career, it already happened for me to train for 3 or 4 hours in a day. Therefore never 5 hours a day for a whole week (that’s 30 hours a week - vs my average 29 hours a month - making the weekly workout time 4 times higher!)
Here’s a review of it:
In theory, read below what I planned
• Days 1-7 mornings: 10 min warmup + 50 min on 32nd note click patterns + 60 min Brass sound = 2 hours workout
• Days 1,3,5 afternoons: 60 min “Inward TKs” + 60 min “Holding Workout” + 60 min Mic Tech Workout
• Days 2-4-6: 3 hours for recording Beatbox Tracks
In reality, here’s what happened - time tracking + feeling):
Day 1:
- Tracking: 4 hours 07 beatbox total time.
- Feeling: 3 hours straight in the afternoon is exhausting! Improvements on Inward TKs
DAY 2:
- Tracking: 3 hours 27 beatbox total time. 3 hours 16 mixing time.
- Feeling: Brass itches throat. Had to stop before it damages my throat. +1 track “I just wanna Flow”!! Back palate hurts a bit.
DAY 3:
- Tracking: 3 hours 00 beatbox total time. 1 hour 45 mixing.
- Feeling: Don’t feel like working out this morning, need rest. Back to the workout in the afternoon! Back palate still hurts
DAY 4:
- Tracking: 3 hours 16 beatbox total time. 3 hours 11 mixing.
- Feeling: Back palate hurts a bit - Not enough energy to go for 1 hour Brass - The Track « The Vibe » exhausted my lungs due to the 808 snares
DAY 5:
- Tracking: 0 hours 25 minutes beatbox total time.
- Feeling: Breath difficulties because of 808 snares. I had a severe asthma crisis 2 months ago, so I need to rest + Schedule changes
DAY 6:
- Tracking: 1 hour 49 minutes beatbox total time. 3 hours 10 mixing.
- Feeling: Plans changed, not free on Saturday. Didn’t feel like working out too much. +1 Track “Depths Of Work (VIP)”
There’s a tracking table attached to this post so you can check the details.
What can I conclude from this challenge?
1. It was both a physical (70%) and mental (30%) challenge.
2. The challenge turned into a creative process while the days passed. I recorded 3 tracks, finished the mixing & mastering of two of them. The challenge was definitely beneficial regarding the creative aspect of beatbox.
3. I improved the speed of my 32nd note clicks, Inward TKs. No big changes regarding the power of those though.
4. No big evolution on the Brass sound, but I saved time in the research process for the texture.
5.It was something new to try. I learnt a lot regarding my physical current limits.
6. This challenge also gives me content to share (like this post, or future videos)
The message I want to convey is that you need to change or try new ways of working in your beatbox. People tend to stagnate because they do not renew themselves - as much in the creative process as in the way of training/learning.
That’s how Colaps stood out. That’s how River’ stood out. That’s how FootboxG stood out. That’s how Saro became a loopstation champion.
That’s also how Skrillex is an EDM beast, that’s how Eminem became one of the best rappers of all time, if not the best. That’s how DJ Snake is an excellent DJ!
Try, try, try, and the more you try, the faster you will find your way, and the more you will know what you like and do not like to do.
Thank you for reading me, and see you in new adventures!
