India retains its position on PPP basis
India has retained and consolidated its position as the third-largest economy after China and the US in terms of purchasing power parity (PPP) for 2017, said the government on 23 June 2020 quoting the World Bank data.

First economic contraction in 4 decades
India’s gross domestic product (GDP) contracted 23.9 per cent in the April-June quarter of 2020-21 from that in the same quarter last financial year, showed official data released by the National Statistics Office (NSO) on 31 August 2020.
