👨‍💻 Non-destructive characterization of catalyst coated membranes for fuel cells

Spectroscopic techniques are powerful non-destructive tools. They can add value to the production of proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). We can use non-destructive analyses to monitor Nafion membranes, catalytic coatings, and other components of a membrane electrode assembly. During a presentation, will be discussed X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence, and near-infrared spectroscopy techniques that can be used for materials characterization in development and production. We will provide examples of applications measuring nanocatalyst size, nanocatalyst loading, membrane hydration, and more.
