Как будет ‘до 17-ого числа’ на 🇬🇧?
У нас два слова: before и until.
Until: ➡️➡️➡️➡️➡️ 1️⃣7️⃣
Весь период от настоящего момента до 17-ого числа.
Поэтому мы только используем ‘длительные глаголы’ с until: be, have, stay, wait, work, sleep, rest etc.
You have until the 17th to pay for the course
У вас (весь период) до 17.09, чтобы оплатить курс
Until the 17th: 👍15th 👍16th 👍17th
🔵 🔵 🔵 🔵 🔵
Before: ——❌—— 1️⃣7️⃣
Конкретное действие, которое надо сделать до 17-ого.
С before, глаголы обычно относятся к конкретным совершенным действиям: pay, make, do, leave, come, stop etc
You have to pay for the course before the 17th
Вы должны оплатить курс до 17-ого числа
Before the 17th: 👍15th 👍16th 🙅♂️17th
🔵 🔵 🔵 🔵 🔵
You have until 17.09 to pay for the course, so you have to pay before the 18th.
Продажи на https://hopkinsenglish.com закроются 18.09 в 08:00 МСК.

And now I have a question for anyone who speaks French 🇫🇷
There is a French word gîte. I want to know if the g in gîte (and the j in je, jamais, Jean) is the same as Russian Ж.
So are the words gîte and жить pronounced the same or differently?
If they are different, then why?
Thanks!

Слово job всегда выдает русскоговорящего человека (и жить выдает англичанина!)
Мне кажется, что английский zh (Asia, fusion, leisure) = звонкий щ. Но русскоговорящие обычно произносят его как русский ж (звонкий ш).
Поэтому слова как just, job, gentleman, Germany, dangerous часто плохо получаются.
Попробуйте говорить дщust, дщob, дщentleman, дщermany, danдщerous. Будет лучше!
Try these sentences:
The gentle giant jumped for joy.
The jury judged the jugglers generously.
Jack and Gina drank juicy gin and ginger.
Some jolly gypsies just joined my gym.

В плохом состоянии: bad state or bad condition?
Можно и так, и так, но не забудьте, что state: исчисляемое. Поэтому мы говорим in a bad state, с артиклем. Но condition: неисчисляемое и мы говорим in bad condition, без артикля.
Кстати, conditions (исчисляемое) имеет другое значение: условия.
In bad condition = в плохом состоянии
In bad conditions = в плохих условиях
Еще:
Он не в состоянии в школу пойти:
He’s in no condition to go to school
He’s not in a fit state to go to school
И если что-то в отличном состянии можно сказать It’s in mint condition.
Can you think of any more useful expressions about состояния?

Happy Teachers’ Day! There’s a ‘famous’ quote in English:
Those who can, do. Those who can’t, teach.
It’s a bit offensive to teachers, but there is sadly some truth in it. Many people try to ‘do’ something first, and if that doesn’t work out, they become teachers. This was true for me - I only became a teacher when I realised that I couldn’t work in a more ‘prestigious’ sphere.
But I’m very glad that I fell into teaching, because being a teacher is great! I get to be an actor, a designer, a writer, a counsellor, a researcher, even a philosopher. It’s an endlessly varied, stimulating and rewarding job.
Our society really needs talented teachers - now that I have three young kids I appreciate this more than ever. But sadly the teaching profession has quite a low status in most countries, and so very few talented young people grow up dreaming of becoming a teacher. 😢
Anyway, today I want to wish all my teacher-followers a very happy teachers’ day!
May our wonderful profession get the status, respect (and remuneration 💵 ) that it deserves, so that kids can grow up dreaming of becoming teachers like us!

Hello! Today I’m shooting (more on that later!) a show and I need to talk about Калакейтто and лохикейтто.
Perhaps someone with Finnish / Karelian roots can tell me what the difference is and also how to pronounce these words! Thanks! 🙏
