# Fast Monday & Thursday
Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Deeds are shown (to Allah) on Mondays and Thursdays, and I like my deeds to be shown when I am fasting.”

(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 747; classed as saheeh by al-Albani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 1041)
Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was keen to fast on Mondays and Thursdays.

(Narrated by al-Tirmidhi, 745; al-Nasai, 2361; Ibn Majah, 1739; classed as saheeh by al-Albani in Saheeh al-Targheeb, 1044)
*Respect your parents.*

“And We have enjoined on man to be good and dutiful to his parents?” [al-Ankabut 29:8]

“And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility through mercy, and say: My Lord! Bestow on them Your Mercy as they did bring me up when I was young.” [al-Isra 17:23]

In al-Sahihayn, Ibn ‘Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was asked which deed is the best? He said: “ Faith in Allah and His Messenger, then honouring one's parents.”

Abu Hurayrah that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “He is doomed, he is doomed, he is doomed. It was said, Who, O Messenger of Allah? He said, “The person whose parents, one or both of them, reach old age during his lifetime but he does not enter Paradise.” (Sahih Muslim, 4627).
‼️‼️ "Happy new Years!"

ʿAbdullāh ibn ʿAmr رضي الله عنه said :

عن عبد الله بن عمرو قال: من مر ببلاد الأعاجم فصنع نيروزهم ومهرجانهم وتشبه بهم، حتى يموت وهو كذلك حشر معهم يوم القيامة

Whoever passes through the lands of the non-Arabs, celebrates their Nowruz (new years) and Mahrajan festivals, and imitates them, and continues to do so until he dies in that state, will be resurrected with them on the Day of Resurrection.

كتاب أحكام أهل الذمة - ط عطاءات العلم (2/349)

For the Muslim, "New Years" is a normal day, where we work, pray, fast, and carry on with their usual lives. For the Muslim, his "New Years" is actually 'Eid Al-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan and the start of a new Islamic Year.

• The Muslim does not celebrate with the Kuffar.
• The Muslim does not congratulate the Kuffar on their festivals.
• The Muslim carries on with his life and his religion.
Be vigilant, Be Muslim.
Benefits of Lowering the Gaze #6

Lowering the gaze is part of striving against one's desires. Whoever strives against their own self for the sake of Allāh, Allāh will guide them to the paths of salvation. Allāh, the Exalted, says: "And those who strive for Us—We will surely guide them to Our ways. And indeed, Allāh is with the doers of good." This striving is part of excellence (ihsān) in worshiping the Creator, Glorified and Exalted. A person is required to strive against their own desires, align them with what Allāh loves and wills, and the more effort and struggle they endure in this, the greater their reward and spiritual elevation. We ask Allāh, the Exalted, to make us among those who strive against their own selves.

Benefits of Lowering the Gaze #7

Lowering the gaze is a form of fortification, and the noblest fortification is when you guard the gateway of your heart so that nothing Allāh dislikes infiltrates it. Whoever safeguards Allāh in the stirrings of their heart, Allāh will safeguard their limbs and all their affairs. Our Lord, Glorified and Exalted, said: "If Allāh knows good in your hearts, He will give you better." Therefore, always keep your heart inclined toward goodness, always distance it from evil, and turn to Allāh, the Exalted, both in action and abstention. Hold yourself accountable for everything and reflect on your states in every matter. If it is something Allāh loves, then proceed; but if it is something Allāh does not love, then beware, beware, and again beware.

Benefits of Lowering the Gaze #9

Lowering the gaze is a form of chastity, and chastity brings elevation in both this world and the Hereafter. It is a reason for great blessings. We see this in the story of Maryam, in the story of Yūsuf, and in the story of Mūsa. A person must be chaste, including chastity of the gaze, chastity of hearing, and chastity of the limbs. This chastity is performed as a fulfillment of Allāh’s right, out of fear of Him, and in hope of His mercy. It brings elevation in both this world and the Hereafter and is a cause of great blessings. The stories that Allāh has narrated to us about those whom He elevated in this world and the Hereafter were because of this.

We all humans have needs but we are commanded to be patient. This world is patience for an hour. We all have negligence, we have slips, we have mistakes but we have to correct them if we fall into them. We correct them and fear Allāh, the Almighty, in ourselves. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ said: You will not leave anything for Allāh, the Almighty, except that He will replace it with something better for you. Something better for you than it. When you are in a bad relationship. Any relationship is bad if it does not please Allāh, the Almighty. They are all bad. Do not justify that I robbed this store and say I intend in the future when I have money to go and pay its price. This is theft. This is your talk. This is not an excuse. Do not let Shaytān deceive you by giving you any excuses for such relationships.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

So leave, leave what Allāh ta'ālā does not like. Leave bad company. Leave your friend who talks to the opposite gender. Leave the movies and series that teach people this falsehood. O our young men and women, the thing that you see today is clever play. Tomorrow when you grow up, you will see, wallāhī, you will regret many of these things. You will say, “I wish we had not fallen into them.” Put locks on the doors of your lives. Put walls on your hearts. Do not make your heart like a trash can, a place to receive everything that is thrown at it. This is the you heart. Your heart is the most precious thing you have. You must preserve this heart. Protect it from corrupt thoughts, thoughts that are imported from series, movies, songs, and bad company. You must protect this heart until you purify it so that it is white as milk.

Benefits of Lowering the Gaze #11

Lowering the gaze is a reason for the growth of intellect. A wise person is one who recognizes good and seeks it, and recognizes evil and avoids it. So, be wise—grasp the good and restrain yourself from the evil. The intellect is called ‘aql because a person uses it to grasp good, understand it, and benefit from it, while it restrains them from evil. A person should not follow their desires or burden themselves with what is not theirs. Instead, one should enjoy and take pleasure in what Allāh has permitted, using their sight in ways that benefit them and bring them closer to Allāh.

Benefits of Lowering the Gaze #12

Lowering the gaze is an act of preferring the eternal over the immediate, and it is a sign of those who succeed. The people of success desire the Hereafter and make what they obtain in this world a means to the eternal abode. Ibn Hubayrah, may Allah have mercy upon him, said: "Preferring the eternal reward over the immediate is the state of the scholars. Whoever is like this is a scholar, and whoever prefers the immediate is not a scholar." Therefore, a person must use everything in this world as a provision for the eternal abode. The Hereafter is everlasting, long, and continuous, while this world is fleeting, transient, and perishable.

Fawa'id from Sharh Ad-Dā' wad-Dawā' #7
Shaykh 'Abdur-Razāq Bin 'Abdul-Muhsin Al-'Abbād Al-Badr

1. Those who say Allah is more merciful to punish for some small sins: Allah is also fair and He gives each one what he deserves
2. One person thinks good about Allah while also striving to please Him as much as he can, the other is thinking good about Allah while committing all types of sins
3. These people only think good without any actions, what must be is that both of these are combined (thinking good about Allah with correct actions, and hope and fear together, as previously discussed)
4. One must fear that Allah will not accept his actions
5. The Salaf do good and then fear that it is not accepted
6. When someone has problems with certain sins he should look at the punishment for them
7. One always has to be fair and give people what they deserve and not steal because the punishment is severe
8. One must always act upon his knowledge
9. From the reasons for severe punishment is ordering people to good and not doing it oneself
10. Backbiting people is also a big reason for punishment and sadly it is very spread today and some people get together and travel distances to meet or they call each other just to backbite other people
11. It is very important to always ask Allāh to make you firm on the religion and this is from the most Dua' the Prophet ﷺ would make

And the most miserable person in the world, who is destined for Paradise, will be brought and dipped once into Paradise. Then it will be said, 'O son of Adam, have you ever experienced any hardship? Has any difficulty ever befallen you?' He will say, 'No, by Allah, my Lord. I have never experienced any misery, nor has any difficulty ever befallen me.'"
