"And al-Masūhī al-Shāfiʿī, may Allah have mercy on him and be pleased with him, mentioned that the early followers of al-Shāfiʿī were strictly adherent to the pure Sunnah. Ibn Taymīyyah and some of his students: Ibn al-Sarrāj said about Ibn Taymīyyah: "Here he is, along with a group of his arrogant followers, shouting: 'Who is ʾImam al-Ḥaramayn? Who is al-Ghazālī? All of these were philosophers, dogs who obliterated the religion.' This is about the earlier well-known scholars. 'Who is Tāj al-Dīn al-Firkāḥ? Who is Muḥyī al-Dīn al-Nawawī?' This is about the later scholars who were around during our time when we were boys, because they preceded him. He wanted to erase their names and eliminate their virtues so he could take the leadership, like those similar to him." [From Tufāḥ al-Arwāḥ]

Al-Tāj al-Subkī said: "Al-Nawawī was of the Ashʿarī creed." [Qāʿidah fī al-Jarḥ wa al-Taʿdīl (p. 54)]

Al-Sakhāwī said: "I say: al-Yāfiʿī and al-Tāj al-Subkī explicitly stated that he was Ashʿarī." [Al-Manhal al-ʿAḏb al-Rawī (p. 28)]

Zayn al-Dīn al-Manāwī said: "For al-Nawawī was Ashʿarī." [Al-Yawāqīt wa al-Durar Sharḥ Sharḥ Nukhabat al-Fikar (2/381)]. He cited al-Subkī's statement without referencing him and without refuting it, which implies agreement.

Ḥammād al-Anṣārī said: "Al-Nawawī was Ashʿarī, and the reason for this is that he did not engage with the books of the Salaf on creed as much as he engaged in the jurisprudence of branches." [Al-Majmūʿ fī Tarjamah Ḥammād al-Anṣārī (2/750)]

What Is Namīmah [Gossiping] In Islām?

It is a Major Sin. It involves passing talk from one person to another with the intent to corrupt and harm. It also means revealing secrets and sharing things that are not meant to be exposed. See Ihyā’ Ulūm ad-Dīn [3/156]

Hadith: Allāh’s Messenger ﷺ said, “No gossiper [nammam] will enter the Garden.” Sahīh Muslim [no. 105].

Harms of gossiping on the community:

- Creates animosity between the Muslims.
- It is a clear sign of cowardice, weakness, and deceit.
- It encourages spying and tracking others' affairs.

Action Plan:

- Do not speak about other people rather focus improving yourself.
- Making the gossiper aware of the dangers of gossiping if in his presence.
- Leave the gatherings and individuals when they start gossiping or backbiting. 

Mindset:

- Focus on yourself and dont busy yourself with the affairs of others.
- Remember that the one who gossips to you, gossips about you.

المتكلم لا يخلو من أربع حالات:

١. أنه يجهل عقيدة الذين يتحدث عنهم
وفي هذه الحالة يجب عليه أن يقول: “لا أدري”.

٢. أنه يجهل عقيدة الأشاعرة
وفي هذه الحالة أيضًا يجب عليه أن يقول: “لا أدري”.

٣. أنه يجهل عقيدة المسلمين
وفي هذه الحالة لا يجوز له أن يُدرس الإسلام وهو لا يدري ما يُدرس.

٤. أنه يريد أن يُدلس على الناس وينصر الباطل
وفي هذه الحالة لا يجوز لنا أن نثق به كإنسان نأخذ عنه العلم الشرعي.

نسأل الله أن يهدي المدجنة.
