Whenever “the majority of people“ is mentioned in the Qur‘an, it is followed by a negative trait.

حَفِظَكَ الله شيخَنَا

The nullifiers of Wudu:

1. Anything that exits the private parts

2. Urine or Feces coming out of the rest of the body

3. Absence of intellect, except for a light sleep for those who are sitting or standing without support

4. Touching any human‘s private parts with the hand without any barrier

5. Touching the opposite gender with lust without any barrier, and this does not invalidate the Wudu of the one who is touched, even if he experiences desire

6. Washing a dead person

7. Eating Camels meat

8. Apostasy, may Allah protect us from it

Everything that requires Ghusl requires Wudu except death.

Whoever is certain of his purity and doubts breaking it or the opposite builds on his certainty.

‘Abdullah Ibn Ahmed Ibn Hanbal (rahimahullah) said:

My father (Ahmad Ibn Hanbal - rahimahullah) used to pray 300 (three hundred) rakahs every day and night. But when he became ill from those lashes, he became weak, so he used to pray 150 (hundred fifty) rakahs every day and night, and (at that time) he was close to eighty (years in age).

Many people take from the hadith

وَعَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِذَا سَمِعَ النِّدَاءَ أَحَدُكُمْ وَالْإِنَاءُ فِي يَدِهِ فَلَا يَضَعْهُ حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ حَاجَتَهُ مِنْهُ» . رَوَاهُ أَبُو دَاوُد

Abu Huraira reported Allah's messenger as saying, “When any of you hears the summons to prayer while he has a vessel in his hand he should not lay it down till he finishes his drink.”

Abu Dawud transmitted it.

The reality is that this hadith is weak. None of the fourth Madhahib say with what is said in this Hadith. Ash-Shaf'i says that if there is food in your mouth and you hear the athan you must spit it out!

«من سمع ببدعة فلا يَحْكِها لجلسائه، لا يُلقِها في قلوبهم»

«أكثر أئمة السلف على هذا التحذير، يرون أن القلوب ضعيفة، والشُّبَه خطافة»

The danger of Bid‘ah according to the Salaf

Sufyan Al-Thawri - رَحِمَهُ الله - said:
“Whoever hears of an innovation should not tell it to those sitting around it and should not put it in their hearts.”

Al-Dhahabi - رَحِمَهُ الله - said, commenting on his statement:
“Most of the imams of the Salaf adhere to this warning. They see that hearts are weak, and suspicions are deceitful.”
