Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the heads of delegations at the first Russia-Africa ministerial conference gathered for a joint photo ceremony before the plenary session to take a picture that traditionally precedes the main event of the meeting.
Saturday saw a series of thematic sessions and round tables, with plenary sessions and the conference's closing ceremony planned for afterward.
Anton Kobyakov, Advisor to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the Organizing Committee of the forum, stated that ministerial conferences will be held regularly.
Delegations from 54 countries and 45 ministers from African states are participating in the event, according to Kobyakov.
