Statement
We would like to inform our esteemed customers that we have received flight suspension notice from Chinese authorities on our Addis Ababa –Shanghai route. The notice came after some passengers have been tested positive for COVID-19 during PCR tests conducted at destination airports. Even though we strictly implemented requirements and boarded passengers carrying PCR negative result, some of the passengers who brought PCR negative result certificate from Silk Road General Hospital, a Chinese COVID-19 testing center in Addis Ababa, eventually tested positive at destination.
We are discussing the matter with Chinese authorities to restore our operation. Meanwhile, we are informing our passengers not to test with the above-mentioned hospital since we have suspended the acceptance of PCR test results from this hospital.
As always, customers' safety is the top priority for Ethiopian Airlines, and we will continue to comply with all international and national regulations and to cooperate with all health authorities.
