There are lessons here...
1. How to create content for your business. Which of the vendors did better with content creation?
2. How to structure your value proposition and offer. Delivery speed? Size of chops? Number of clients served - credibility? What is your core focus as a business?
What other lessons can you share?

As a business owner, you don't need to depend only on the income you earn from your business if it's not enough to meet your financial goals.
Take Chichi for example.
Chichi is a young woman who spent 8 months setting up her shop where she sells diapers and other baby products. She had worked for major diapers companies as a sales agent so she had experience and interest in the field. She spent time building a customer base for her shop as well as setting up structures to ensure that she efficiently serves her customers and smooth operations of the business.
But Chichi knew her business was still quite small and would not be able to meet her financial goals. So after she had set up a structure to ensure that the business can run smoothly even in her absence, she hired staff to manage her business and then with her experience applied and got a job at a much bigger diaper company, that way she was earning from her job and her business.
In the journey of building your brand, it's okay to work for someone else, especially if your income from your business is not enough to meet your financial goals. You don't need to put so much financial pressure on your business because in doing so, you would be stifling the growth of your business.
Would your business stay in operation if you went in pursuit of another opportunity?
Always think structures!

A few months ago, a business owner hired us at Mapemond to fix a problem. She runs a very viable catering business. She had noticed that whenever she travels briefly her revenue declines, but it picks up immediately she is back to business.
What finally prompted her to take action was when she had to leave Nigeria for an extended period of time, inflows kept dropping until it got to ground level. The situation changed immediately she got back to Nigeria.
She was greatly perturbed because she had more foreign trips to embark on, so she made the smart decision of seeking help!
A key issue was that over 90% of the clients were her personal contacts both online and offline and no one else in the company had access to them. The moment her contacts knew she was not in town, they get an alternative until she is back in town.
There were many factors at play. One being that she was the marketing system. Another was that the clients believe the food and service quality won't be the same once she is not on ground to manage things. Plus a couple of other factors.
She paid us in full upfront to fix the issue for her by rejigging the structure and designing a proper marketing system for the business that is independent of her direct effort. She became a part of the marketing system and not the marketing system itself.
One day a mutual friend of ours mentioned to me that she heard Mapemond is handling the business and that she noticed a great improvement already.
If your business doesn't have an independent marketing system, your business might just be endangered, especially with the present economic situation. You don't want to be having issues with revenue inflow at such a critical time when you should be fastening your seatbelt for the ride ahead.
The class on GET YOUR SALES right will be tackling your own marketing and sales issues and you'll have a worksheet to guide you in developing your own marketing system. August batch holds 1st to 3rd August in Port Harcourt and online version will be available a week afterwards. Discounts still applicable!

When his company wanted to create a new product, Emeka suggested to his boss that they do market testing before making the actual product. His boss had never thought of that but Emeka, who had worked for bigger companies as the head of marketing knew how much things could go wrong without proper product development.
His boss knows he's good at his job so he gives him the go-ahead to conduct a user test for the new product.
After the user test, Emeka and his team were able to spot some properties of the product that needed to be modified.
While Emeka and his team went on with other activities, the product development team went to work to develop the actual product and with the modifications, they were able to create a much better product than what they initially had.
Marketing should begin from the ideation stage. The moment you conceive the idea, you should also start considering how to shape the idea in a way that will make the final product more acceptable to the market. Imagine if the feedback from the user test isn't good enough, thousands of products have been produced already, what happens to them? This is why smart companies conduct feasibility studies. We go out there and gather data to analyze the idea objectively even if you are operating with "gut feeling".

Branding begins right from the ideation stage of your business. It has to be part of the business and organisational strategy because it does not exist on its own.
Take for example, Madam Gold's shop.
Madam Gold sells Gold, Jewelries and other precious stones. Her shop is beautifully designed, it stands out amongst other shops and it is so easy to identify.
But asides the unique design of the shop, madam gold also has an amazing team of workers. They always keep the shop clean, and they make their customers time at the shop a beautiful experience. All these marks define Madam Gold's brand ultimately
Pay attention to the various marks in your business organisation because they shape the perception and impression that becomes your brand over time.

In your effort to market your business, one of the things you can do (that doesn't necessarily require you to engage a consultant/agency) to gain better visibility and attract your desired target audience, is to have what is called a big idea.
A big idea is commonly used for marketing campaigns. Every professional marketing campaign you see has a big idea that drives it whether it is expressly communicated or not.
Just like when Unilever's Omo and Persil ran a marketing campaign themed "DIRT IS GOOD". It was derived from the ideology named "Modern Parenting" which submits that children learn more about their environment and as they explore their curiosity, they mess their clothes up. Therefore, let the children play and as they get dirty, Omo helps you make the clothes clean again.

You see this bottle of groundnut here? I got it in a store at Peter Odili Road in Port Harcourt.
It was packaged and distributed all the way from Nsukka in Enugu State.
Many businesses producing stuff are stuck with their products while struggling to retail it themselves.
Understanding distribution sales can change the game for you. It's one of the modules we teach during the GET YOUR SALES RIGHT course.

Dubem's friends didn't understand why he would want to go into the garri business, so he suffered a great deal of mockery from some of them.
But he had chosen his path, he consistently marketed his goods, and he took free and paid courses on how to take his garri business to the next level. He set up structures around his business, employed the necessary staff, and within 3 years, his garri business had grown. He was generating millions of naira in revenues!
Years later, Dubem and his friends decided to host get together since it has been a long time since they did that. They were happy to see each other and while catching up with one another, they were shocked to learn that Dubem was still doing his garri business but it had grown into a big company, generating millions in revenue monthly, with over 20 employees.
Some of his friends who were still struggling to stand on their feet had to seek his counsel because of how he successfully grew his business.
Prestige is not in appearance, it comes from substance. Once you become successful in your endeavour, it will attract respect.
