A certain business owner of a beauty spa once reached out to us at Mapemond to help hire a sales representative. The person had the target of bringing 500m monthly to the business and their salary was 70k with no commissions or benefits.

The business owner wasn't willing to reconsider, so we respectfully declined the request because employing a sales rep and giving them a target won't solve your revenue problems.

Do you have a practical marketing strategy that will guide and aid the sales drive?

Do you have a marketing/sales budget that matches your revenue projections?

You need to come to class at Mapemond Business Academy to have a better grasp of how to upgrade your marketing and sales game.

He who sows sparingly reaps sparingly

He who sows bountifully reaps bountifully

It is so true for marketing budgets as well

What you put in is what you get out

Ask Coca-Cola, ask Indomie, ask Andorra Bridals, as Igbogbo Natural Cleanser, as the Real Estate people all over the radio airwaves.

Even the giants like Google are advertising.

Come to class and gain insights to power your business to better results

Since January this year, what exactly have you done to put your business out there?

Will people remember your business even when you aren't there?

Come and learn marketing and sales in an indepth way.

November 7th to 9th. Come to class or take the course online right away.

So your marketing efforts aren't yielding results?

You can't dance on TikTok to get attention?

Well, read this...

Consumers respond to adverts according to their personality types.

If you hinge your advert on fear, there are those who will respond with a buying decision while there are those that will even be irritated.

If you drive your advert with humour, some will be drawn, some will be repelled, and others will be indifferent.

If you adopt intrigue or something really new for your advert, it will have its audience while others will walk on.

Same applies to emotionally themed ads or any other.

So it's important to know who you are targeting and what their likely response will be, construct your message and advert intentionally for them.

If you are daring enough, you could also attempt swinging the targets towards your own desired response which the ad would evoke.

Come to class next week and learn more, register for GET YOUR SALES RIGHT or take the course online.

If MTN doesn't advertise for an extended period (say one year), many consumers will start assuming that the company is having issues even though they still use the service...

When they say out of sight is out of mind, it holds true to a large extent in marketing...

There is a reason MTN, Indomie, Lush Hair, Peak, and many other brands are constantly in your face...

Advertising is the stronghold Coca-Cola has on the world and not just the product itself...

The big question is that if these big brands with massive market shares are still aggressive with their marketing, what's the hope for smaller businesses?

That is why you are told to show up daily with your social media marketing, but even that isn't sustainable if you don't design an independent marketing and sales system for your business.

You can't afford to tie your revenue inflow to your personal mood and circumstances each day.

The Get Your Sales Right course offers you a rare chance to have a holistic view on all that you need to put in place to have a functional and result-oriented marketing and sales system for your business.

Today is the last day of the ongoing Get Your Sales Right course and the participants are presently on their practical field task.

We sent them to the business premise of a new client we have, a hotel, that is struggling with sales.

Their task is to visit the hotel, gather information, and come up with a marketing and sales plan that can turn the fortune of the business around.

News just filtered in from the field that they are currently waiting for the meals they ordered to get ready because they want to have a taste of the food as well.

These participants are going all out on the task and we await what they come up with shortly.

They were divided into two groups.

Streetwise business knowledge, that's the underlying focus of Mapemond Business Academy.

The next cohort for Get Your Sales Right is in January 2023.

The end goal of structuring is getting your business to work for you through systems and processes.

You cannot desire to build a legacy business and refuse to deepen your roots in the soil of structure.

It won't work.

Building a structured business doesn't happen overnight but then you need sound knowledge to ensure you are doing it right.

From 21st to 23rd November 2022, we will be hosting the last cohort of STRUCTURE YOUR BUSINESS RIGHT course for this year.

You can register here: https://mba.mapemond.com/product/structure-your-business-right/

He asked for $60,000 and he got $600,000!

That's hard work, consistency and perseverance paying off!

Be consistent with what you're doing, the reward will be worth it!

Your business does not have to be big for you to have structure, start from where you are with available resources, that is what will set you on track to becoming bigger.

If having formal contracts seem too farfetched for you, then capture the terms of business dealings via emails, SMS, etc to the client.
We advise you to create contract templates suitable for your own business, there are SME lawyers that can do it for you at pocket-friendly prices. Just get more serious with your business.

If you are not ready to have a functional board of directors, get some experienced and willing persons to volunteer as advisors - they serve as advisory board. That way you have people who keep you accountable and help you see beyond your sentiments and biases. And to show your own commitment, create some sort of benefit for them. It can be as little as a quarterly recharge voucher. Just get serious with your business.

Build a team, no matter how small. If you cannot afford to hire, engage interns but you must show good leadership abilities to attract and empower them with experiential knowledge. There are lots of idle young people seeking to volunteer at places where they can learn valuable skills. Engaging interns means you will need to have a structure in place - their tasks, work schedules, reporting lines, etc. Get serious with your business.

Many people fail at meeting their tax obligations because they are already enveloped by the struggle for survival, but if you are not thinking right about the business, you will keep finding excuses not to meet your tax obligations when the business is generating revenue.
There are SME tax consultants that could guide you and also give you flexible rates.

Register your business as soon as possible, always issue receipts for transactions, keep records of sales, expenses, etc. And create official emails for communications. If you don't have a website domain yet, use your company name @gmail.com

The more you think of your business as a company, the better organized you will become. Don't get stuck with hustle and self-employment. You can build that business into a company. The challenges of being an entrepreneur are already enormous, don't add the limitation of your thinking to it.

You can do it. It will take you time - years, actually, but with focus and consistency, you will get there.

It's already day 2 of the STRUCTURE YOUR BUSINESS RIGHT class, however, you can still get an online version:

"If you need to water down your story to appeal to everyone, it will appeal to no one. The most effective stories match the world view of a tiny audience—and then that tiny audience spreads the story."
- Seth Godin

The power of your brand visibility is in your story.
Keep it original and authentic. Own your story and push your brand with it.

Use everything within your reach to project your story; your logo, your content, your designs your language and communication style, everything!
That is what brings YOUR OWN audience to you.

Nigerian businesses have amazing stories, but we hide our stories, we neglect it, we don't articulate it, we don't care about it, and we can see why we are not building enough amazing brands like the ones we always like to talk about abroad.

You can change that narrative by registering for the BRAND YOUR BUSINESS RIGHT course starting tomorrow, the 24th of November 2022 and applying all you will be taught.

We have what it takes to build amazing brands!

"We don't do commercials because our target audience isn't sitting around watching tv"

- Lamborghini.

Your target audience/ market are people who your service/product is created for, who need them, and who are willing to pay for them.

The terms target audience and target market are the same, their difference only exists in their application.

It is called market when you are speaking in terms of your marketing and sales strategies.

While it is called audience when you are speaking in terms of your marketing communications.

Let's say,  a baby diaper brand wants to create marketing campaigns, who do you think their target audience should be?

University student?
Teenagers?
Nursing parents?

Some business owners make the mistake of thinking everybody is their customer.
It's not true, because even if you sell long life, there are people who won't buy.

So it's best to define who your target audience/ market are.

Age, occupation, income level, location, social class, gender, marital status,  etc are some factors you can use to define your target market.

For example, your target market/audience can be single females, business owners, aged 30 to 60years, who earn between N500k to N1million.

Defining your target market and audience will help shape your marketing campaigns and will ensure a good response rate.

If you have been marketing to everybody, this is a good time to define who your target audience are.

If you have identified them, you can share with us in the discussion group
