ENC conducted a comprehensive anti-hijack exercise on 06 November 2024 at Visakhapatnam Airport, simulating a hijack scenario to test and validate response procedures. This exercise, co-ordinated by INS Dega aimed to assess the effectiveness of the airport's contingency plan, safeguard passenger safety, and ensure seamless inter-agency coordination in the event of an actual hijack situation. The responses demonstrated adequate readiness and coordination among INS Dega, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the National Security Guard (NSG), the Airport Authority of India, and State Government agencies to handle any contingencies.
Additional Director General (Retd) VD Chafekar, formerly of the Indian Coast Guard, has been appointed as the seventh Executive Director of Regional Cooperation Agreement on Combating Piracy and Armed Robbery against Ships in Asia Information Sharing Centre (ReCAAP ISC) in Singapore. He was appointed as the Executive Director by the Governing Council of ReCAAP ISC for the period from April 01, 2025 till March 31, 2028.
The third edition of the high-level virtual interaction MAHASAGAR was conducted by the Indian Navy on 05 Nov 24, during which Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff interacted with Heads of Navies/ Maritime Agencies and Senior Leadership from Indian Ocean Region littorals viz., Bangladesh, Comoros, Kenya, Madagascar, Maldives, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles, Sri Lanka and Tanzania. The interaction’s theme was ‘Training Cooperation to Mitigate Common Maritime Security Challenges in IOR’, which highlights the present and necessary imperatives for Training Corporation towards mitigation of common maritime challenges in the IOR.

MAHASAGAR which stands for vast ocean in Hindi, is the Indian Navy’s flagship outreach for high-level virtual interaction between Maritime Heads for Active Security And Growth for All in the Region. The initiative, started by the Indian Navy, is conducted bi-annually and has garnered wide acceptance among the participating nations ever since its inception in 2023.
Keel Laying ceremony of Yard 3037 and 3038, the 1st & 2nd Next Generation Offshore Patrol Vessels (NGOPV) (ex-GRSE) was held at M/s Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd, Kolkata. The ceremony was presided by the Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal Dr. CV Ananda Bose with senior officials from Indian Navy and M/s GRSE in attendance.
The 21st edition of India – US Military Cooperation Group (MCG) meeting was conducted from 05 to 06 November 2024 at the Manekshaw Centre, New Delhi. The meeting covered a wide range of topics, including capacity building, training exchanges, defence industrial cooperation and the advancement of joint exercises that bolster preparedness for conventional and hybrid threats.

The meeting was co-chaired by Chief of Integrated Defence Staff Lieutenant General JP Mathew, representing India and Deputy Commander of the US Indo-Pacific Command Lieutenant General Joshua M Rudd, representing the US.
Deputy Director General (Policy & Plans), Indian Coast Guard (ICG), Inspector General (IG) Anand Prakash Badola laid the foundation stone for the Tier-III Data Centre of Project Digital Coast Guard (DCG), at Mahipalpur, New Delhi. Equipped with latest technology, the Project DCG’s Tier-III Data Centre will serve as the brain centre to monitor and administer all the applications & vital IT resources, thereby providing critically important support to the administrative functioning of ICG.
Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS), in collaboration with the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies, conducted the inaugural Annual Niche Technology Nexus (NTN-2024) Seminar today in New Delhi. The seminar, titled ‘Innovating Tomorrow’s Battlefront with Quantum and Electronic Mastery,’ provided insights into transforming defence operations to enhance Aatmanirbharta, aligning with India’s goal for self-reliance in defence technology.

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan delivered a special address. He acknowledged the ongoing National Quantum Mission, which coincides with the centenary of Dr. S.C. Bose, and emphasised the long-term impact of Quantum Technology on future warfare and outcomes for the Armed Forces.
Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan inaugurated the 2nd edition of the annual Indian Military Heritage Festival (IMHF) in New Delhi today. The two-day festival being held on November 08-09, 2024 aims to engage global and Indian think tanks, corporations, public and private sector undertakings, non-profits, academicians, and research scholars focusing on India’s national security, foreign policy, military history and military heritage.

CDS also launched Project ‘Shaurya Gatha’, an initiative of the Department of Military Affairs and the USI of India, which aims to conserve and promote India’s military heritage through education and tourism.
