Keel laying ceremony of the second Cadet Training Ship (Yard – 18004) was held at M/s L&T Shipyard, Kattupalli on 03 Jun 24. The ceremony was presided over by RAdm Sandeep Mehta, Assistant Controller of Warship Production and Acquisition (ACWP&A). RAdm G K Harish (Retd), Head Shipbuilding Business, L&T and other senior officials from Indian Navy and M/s L&T were present for the occasion.
The contract for indigenous design and construction of three Cadet Training Ships was concluded between MoD and M/s L&T on 07 Mar 23. These Cadet Training Ships will be utilised for training officer cadets at sea after their basic training ashore. These ships will also extend training facility to cadets from Friendly Foreign Countries.

The 80th Staff Course commenced on 3rd June, at the Defence Services Staff College (DSSC) in Wellington, Tamil Nadu. The course is designed to train mid-career officers from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force to become proficient staff officers and future military leaders and equips officers with the knowledge and skills necessary to operate effectively in an integrated tri-services environment. During the course, 480 student officers including 38 officers from 26 Friendly Foreign Countries will gain a deep understanding of the functioning of each service and the warfighting philosophies at tactical and operational level over a duration of 45 weeks.

▪️ Increasing the entry age for Agniveers in the technical field to 23 years.
▪️ Ex-gratia should be provided for disability during training and that exit management should be handled by a professional agency.
▪️ If an Agniveer dies in war, their family should receive a subsistence allowance.

Indian Navy's indigenous Stealth Frigate INS Shivalik participated in the 8th edition of the Japan – India Maritime Exercise 2024 (JIMEX 24).
The exercise includes both harbour and sea phases. The harbour phase will comprise professional, sports and social interactions, after which the two navies will jointly hone their war fighting skills at sea and enhance their interoperability through complex multi-discipline operations in the surface, sub-surface and air domains.

Five army soldiers and one special police officer were injured after terrorists opened fire at the Army's Temporary Operating Base (TOB) in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Wednesday.
