J&K Police: We have filed a case against 16 soldiers (of the 160th Territorial Army which also includes three officers holding the Lt. Col. rank) for assaulting policemen at a police station in Kupwara district. Five police personnel including the SHO were injured and they were shifted to hospital and are said to be stable.
It is being speculated that this incident happened after the policemen raided a house of one of the soldiers from the unit. Charges on the alleged soldiers are rioting, attempting to murder, and kidnapping a policeman while fleeing.
Indian Army: The army has denied assaulting the cops and termed it an incident of 'minor differences'.
