DRDO Develops the lightest Bulletproof jacket for protection against the highest threat level 6 of BIS
Defence Materials and Stores Research and Development Establishment (DMSRDE), Kanpur has successfully developed the lightest Bullet Proof Jacket in the country for protection against 7.62 x 54 R API (Level 6 of BIS 17051) ammunition. Recently, this bulletproof jacket was successfully tested at TBRL, Chandigarh as per BIS 17051-2018. This jacket is based upon a new design approach, where novel material along with new processes have been used.

A successful validation of the Airdrop of Mechanised Platform (BMP) from C-17 aircraft of IAF was conducted at Mahajan Field Firing Ranges. The intricate airborne exercise involved meticulous planning and joint efforts of Indian Army and Indian Air Force. Mohammed Farooq Sheikh from Gujarat poses as an army major to smuggle liquor from Maharashtra, arrested in Nandurbar.
The incident came to the fore during traffic congestion in Nandurbar, Maharashtra, while vehicles were being checked by the traffic police. Mohammad Farooq Sheikh of came out of the car at that point, dressed in the uniform of a major rank in the army, and shouted at the police to clear the traffic. However, in the meanwhile, a constable approached him and received a salute from the ‘major’. As a result, the fake Major Mohammed was exposed. Following that, the police apprehended him and launched an inquiry.
