This new visa 'cascade' regime for Indian nationals residing in India who apply for Schengen (short-stay) visas in India will provide easier access to visas with multi-year validity for travellers with an established travel history.

The Schengen area is a group of 29 European countries that have mutually agreed to abolish border controls at their mutual borders. These countries function as a single entity under a common visa policy for intl travel mostly regulated by the EU.

An analysis of satellite imagery from 1984 to 2023 shows that out of 2,431 glacial lakes larger than 10 hectares, 676 have expanded notably, with 130 of these within India across the Indus, Ganga, and Brahmaputra river basins.

Mohammed Farooq Sheikh from Gujarat poses as an army major to smuggle liquor from Maharashtra, arrested in Nandurbar.

The incident came to the fore during traffic congestion in Nandurbar, Maharashtra, while vehicles were being checked by the traffic police.
