The CIJWS trains the soldiers in Guerilla Warfare and Counter Insurgency. The School is located at Vairengte in Mizoram. The CIJWS comes under 3 Corps of Eastern Command. The motto of School is “Fight the guerrilla like a guerrilla”.The Counter Insurgency and Jungle Warfare School was originally established in 1967 as a Jungle Training School at Mynkre in Meghalaya. It relocated to Vairengte, Mizoram on 1 May 1970. The school is a centre of excellence for training in counter insurgency and related aspects of jungle warfare.

Operation Summer Storm (2009)

On 11 April 2009, Indian Armed forces ( including 57 mountain division of Indian Army, Para SF, Assam Rifles, and State Police ) launched a Counter Intergency Operation named "Operation Summer Storm" in the Loktak lake region and adjoining Loktak lake in Bishnupur District in MANIPUR. 12 militants were killed, all belonging to People's Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak ( PREPAK). And also destroyed five militant camps during the Operation.
